Dr. Catherine Adegoke

Dr. Catherine Adegoke is a pharmacist, who holds a doctorate degree in Management Sciences (Health). She is an alumnus of the World Bank e-course on "Basics of Health Economics". Dr. Adegoke combines both public and private sector experiences to demonstrate deep insight and wide experience of the health development sector, in issues that affect health sector systems, and in particular, the supply chain sub-sector. These revolve around the framework under which they operate, combined with a robust Capacity Development experience, across several projects and countries. Her interest and demonstrated expertise in sustainability issues and the policy thrusts that influence them, have served as a basis for their deployment in the transformation of national and international surveys, case studies, and reviews, from mere investigations to robust programme evaluation and re-design, achieved with meticulous application of relevant and reliable data, qualitative and quantitative. She has worked (and consulted) for many international bodies, including WHO (Nigeria (EPI/HIV/AIDS, EDM)); WHO/AFRO; WHO/Geneva); UNAIDS; World Bank; UNDP, USAID/MSH/RPM Plus; USAID/John Snow, Incorporated (JSI); USAID/Basics Grant Management Solutions (GMS); IFC, SFH, UNICEF, ICF etc. These have been at National (inclusive of State and LGA)- (National Programme on Immunization), as well as international levels (specifically collectively in the WHO/AFRO region, and in Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania (MSH), and Eritrea (Roll Back Malaria). She has been a technical facilitator for West African and East African PSM workshops and a consultant for several national and international surveys and case studies. Her specialized skills in Programme Management revolve around macro issues -Framework, Coordination and Projects (Project Quality Assurance, Supply Chain Systems Quality Control/Analysis), Evaluation (Research/Desktop, Case Study and Data Review). She is also versed in Human Resources Development: Capacity Building (Training Needs Analyses; Curriculum and Training Materials development, as well as Facilitation and Evaluation of Training). Dr. Adegoke has been involved in fostering a breakthrough of the national pharmaceutical system in Nigeria by her drafting of the Operations Research (OR) and Knowledge Management (KM) plans, for the health supply chain sub sector. In addition, she has pursued the drive to inculcate Project Quality Assurance into supply chain transformation projects. Her overall driving force is to pursue prospects for intensive focus on various neglected areas in health supply chain management (such as stakeholder management, system and health policy research, enhanced application of qualitative data, etc.), towards bridging current gaps in public health, and stemming the tide of failures often experienced in PSM-related health project definition and implementation, especially in the Africa continent.

Dr. Skhumbuzo Ngozwana

Dr Ngozwana is CEO of Kiara Health, a South African based Africa-focused healthcare company. He is an international expert on the African Pharmaceutical industry and has worked with both the private and global public health organizations. He consulted to the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United States Pharmacopeia Convention (USP). He co-authored the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plan for Africa. The plan was the output of the extensive research and analytical work he conducted on the African pharmaceutical industry. He co-authored the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Sector Strategy and Action Plan and the pharmaceutical sector strategies of several countries. He consulted for USP on their Africa strategy and authored a Thought Leadership Paper titled, The Next Frontiers for the Public Health Medicines Market: Rethinking Priorities for Improved Access to Quality-Assured Medicines for Universal Access.

Loice Kikwai

Loice Kikwai, Ph.D. is the managing partner at LCK Pharmaceutical Consulting. She has fifteen years' experience in the field of pharmaceutical drug regulation and standardization. To date, Dr. Kikwai serves as a consultant and educator for global pharmaceutical best practices at the Saudi FDA, South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), Bahrain MOH, Kuwait MOH, Eritrea MOH and at US Pharmacopeia - Ghana: Center for Pharmaceutical Advancement and Training (CePAT). Dr. Kikwai has served as an invited and returning speaker at various global conferences to promote and strengthen regulations for the safety, efficacy and quality of generic pharmaceutical drug products. Dr. Kikwai worked at the US FDA, Office of Generic Drugs as a lead bioequivalence dossier assessor. She has extensive experience in evaluations of bioequivalence, pharmacokinetic, formulation, dissolution and bioanalytical data submitted in Abbreviated New Drug Applications (ANDAs), Investigational New Drugs (INDs), and Bioequivalence-INDs (Bio-INDs). She has experience in drafting Product Specific Bioequivalence Recommendations for industry, detailing the protocols for clinical pharmacokinetic studies. Dr. Kikwai worked at US Pharmacopeia as a scientist developing standards and methods for techniques that ensure the quality of generic drugs on the market. She is proficient in setting standards for tests that ensure drug product performance and performance verification testing of equipment used in the testing of human drug products, such as Dissolution testing. Over the years Dr. Kikwai has developed a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of global regulations [US FDA regulations and guidances, EMA regulations and guidelines, US Pharmacopeia Compendial analytical methods, Saudi FDA/GCC regulations and guidelines, ICH, cGMP, cGCP and cGLP] as they pertain to the quality, safety and effectiveness of human drug products, particularly in the area of generic drugs products. Dr. Kikwai regularly attends trainings, workshops and symposia to stay abreast and up to date with the ever-advancing pharmaceutical industry.

Patrick Lukulay

An accomplished pharmaceutical research and global health professional with extensive experience in reputable pharmaceutical companies and global health organizations. Skilled in directing global health programs to develop pharmaceutical policies, strengthen health systems and advocate for increased access to affordable quality assured medicines. Having led multi-million-dollar capacity building programs for USAID as program director and United States Pharmacopeia as vice president, Global Public health, and with firm background in pharmaceutical development, Dr. Lukulay has recently established Technology Solutions for Global Health (Tech4Health) with the focus to using technology as an enabler to facilitate GMP compliance and capacity building in the pharmaceutical regulatory and manufacturing regimes. Dr. Lukulay has authored over 24 publications in reputable peer-review journals and is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences on health systems strengthening, pharmaceutical policy, quality control and quality assurance systems for medicines He is a member of the American Chemical Society, a member of the board of directors for the Professional Science Masters (PSM) program for major Universities in the United States and chairman of the advisory board for Boston University's PharmaChk Technology detection of poor-quality medicines and member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) Expert group on Substandard and Falsified Medicines. Patrick received a B.S degree (Hons) from the University of Sierra Leone, an M.S. degree in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen in Scotland and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Michigan State University. Patrick has received several awards including the distinguished Alumnus award by Michigan State University.

Prof. Chimezie Anyakora

Professor Chimezie Anyakora holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and taught at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lagos for over a decade. He has also been involved in Public Health and Medicine Quality research. He has supervised various PhD students and published scores of papers in the field. He was named the University of Lagos researcher of the year in 2009 among many other awards. He was part of the international transition team for the African University of Science and Technology Abuja. He is in the editorial board of many international journals across the world. He had a stint at the Lagos Business School and during the period authored and co-authored several case studies. He founded the Centre for Advanced Research on Separation Science. He is a board member of African Membrane Society and also a member of the governing council the Institute for Industrial Technology. Prof. Chimezie Anyakora was the Nigeria Country Lead for the United States Pharmacopeia. Prior to that, he consulted for the Global Health Impact Program where he worked on Public Health projects across various African countries including Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo, Malawi, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Congo Brazzaville and many more. He is very active at various public health regional initiatives on the continent. As the country lead of the United States Pharmacopeia and the Chief of Party of the Promoting the Quality of Medicines program in Nigeria, Professor Anyakora led the development and execution of the overall project strategy in Nigeria.
