LLC RN-Purneftegaz, a subsidiary of Rosneft, develops oil and gas fields in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District... The Purneftegaz Production Association was founded in 1986 to develop a group of oil and gas fields in the circumpolar zone of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. The settlement of Gubkinsky was built as a base settlement mainly by Purneftegaz; it received the status of a town in 1996. In 1995, the company became part of Rosneft.
