Ella Wang

Before coming to Canada, Ella was an instructor at a university in Beijing. In 2001, she received a full scholarship to study in Canada. She obtained a Master's degree from Dalhousie University with exceptional academic performance and won the Governor's General Academic Gold Medal. Ella has more than 10 years of research and management experience in university, large company and the Alberta government in Canada. She is well versed in North American culture and the workplace. She has participated in a large number of training courses in Canada including technical and business English writing, team building, lean management, career planning, Canadian immigration law, early childhood education and educational psychology. Ella believes that education has a profound impact on others. Because of her passion for education, she founded Onward Education Consulting in 2013 and hoped to use her knowledge and experience to help more students and families. In the past few years, Ella has often participated in training and conferences in higher education, especially in admissions in prestigious universities in Canada and the United States, and has an in-depth understanding of the North American higher education system, life and workplace culture. She has assisted many students to get into some top Canadian and US universities including Harvard University. What is more gratifying for Ella is she has also helped many students who have encountered challenges to build self-confidence and rekindle their passion for learning.

Michael Balog

Job Titles:

Michael is a teacher and a leader in education with twelve years of expertise. He has held specialist positions in curriculum, technology, service, and science. He has taught at prestigious international schools in Guadalajara, Mexico; Barcelona, Spain; and Cairo, Egypt. Beside working as a consultant with Onward, currently Michael is also a teacher with Edmonton Public Schools. Throughout his career Michael has taught science, mathematics, history, and Spanish. Michael holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University USA, a Master's degree in International Teaching from Framingham University USA, and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta Canada. Michael has organized and presented international workshops for Advanced Placement courses. In addition, he has presented regularly throughout his career to organizations such as ASOMEX, BlendED, and NABSS. With extensive experience in international teaching, Michael has a great passion and is extremely skilled at working with international students in Canada.

Tao Xu

Job Titles:

Tao was recommended to the graduate school of Zhejiang University without writing the entrance exam due to his demonstrated aptitude at the undergraduate level and he obtained a Master's degree in Biomedical engineering from Zhejiang University. Tao had several years of experience as an engineer in a large medical device company in China. He moved to Canada in 2007 and received a Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada in 2013. Before joining Onward, Tao had 10 years of cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and teaching experience. Tao is very meticulous and well organized with strong research and analysis capabilities. Since joining Onward Education, Tao has been committed to promoting academic and cultural exchanges between Canada and China, and helping Chinese international students with their college and career planning. Tao is well liked by the students, he himself has also experienced great satisfaction and fun in the field of education.
