Believe it or not, Scotzin Bros. has been in the area for nearly 50 years. Paul Scotzin and his brother John, a well-known political reporter for the Patriot News, began to make wine back in the 1960's. They even had a vineyard in Mechanicsburg which, unfortunately, was paved over to make room for a housing development. Paul Scotzin had an appliance business - Scotzin Bros. - in Lemoyne where he sold and serviced all makes of televisions and appliances. In the back of the appliance store, carboys of wine were always bubbling. Customers would come in to pick up their serviced appliances and end up sampling the delicious home brew. Rumor has it that many a cab was called to deliver tipsy husbands to their annoyed wives after a visit to Scotzin Bros. Over time, the carboys outnumbered the TVs and, when Paul finally retired, the winemaking business really came into full swing.
