Abigail Rapoport

Abigail Rapoport is the Curator of Judaica at the Jewish Museum. She joined the staff in January 2020 from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, prior to which Abigail held a variety of roles at major museums including the Morgan Library & Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. She is completing her doctorate in medieval art history at the University of Pennsylvania, where she also received her MA in art history with a focus on seventeenth-century Dutch art. Her dissertation examines iconography related to the Mosaic Covenant within Jewish and Christian communities in the High Middle Ages, especially across illuminated manuscripts and metalwork. Abigail received her BA in art history from Barnard College and completed Teach For America in Harlem, New York.

Cindy grew up in Montreal, Canada where she earned her law degrees from McGill University.

Claudia Gould became the Jewish Museum's Helen Goldsmith Menschel Director in early 2012. As a curator and museum director, she has been noted for her commitment to outstanding original programming and an expansive interdisciplinary approach to exhibitions, education, and public outreach. Prior to joining the Jewish Museum, Ms. Gould was Daniel W. Dietrich II Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia from 1999 to 2011. She served as Executive Director of Artists Space, the landmark New York City alternative exhibition space, from 1994 to 1999, and was the first Curator of Exhibitions at the Wexner Center for the Arts in Columbus, Ohio. She has also been an independent curator of numerous international contemporary art installations.

Darsie Alexander

Darsie Alexander is the Susan and Elihu Rose Chief Curator at the Jewish Museum. Previously she held curatorial positions at the Walker Art Center, Baltimore Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art, New York. Most recently she served as Executive Director of the Katonah Museum of Art in Westchester County, New York. Alexander has curated numerous exhibitions focusing on postwar American and European art, notably International Pop (2015-2016); The Spectacular of Vernacular (2011); Franz West, To Build a House You Start with the Roof: Work, 1972-2008 (2008); and SlideShow (2005). She maintains an interest in interdisciplinary practice stemming from her work on the Merce Cunningham Dance Archive. Alexander has served on various boards and foundation panels. She is a graduate of Bates College and earned her graduate degree from Williams College.

David Rubenstein

Jonah Nigh

Jonah Nigh joined the Jewish Museum's staff in 2015 and has previously served as its Director of Major Gifts, Senior Director of Individual Giving, and Acting Deputy Director of Development. He was appointed to Chief Development Officer in February 2020. In this role, he oversees the planning, management, and success of the Jewish Museum's overall fundraising efforts which include membership, special events, institutional giving, major gifts, and planned giving. Jonah has over twenty years of arts experience, fifteen of which have been in fundraising. Prior development roles include positions at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Columbia Journalism School, Columbia School of the Arts, OPERA America, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, among other institutions. He has also worked as a consultant for several nonprofit organizations. A former classical singer, Jonah earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Lawrence University and New England Conservatory, respectively. He has served as a guest moderator and panelist for the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Con Edison Musicians' Residency Program, and OPERA America, among other organizations.

​Mason Klein is a critic, art historian, and curator at the Jewish Museum, where he has organized numerous exhibitions, among them the Museum's centennial exhibition, Modigliani: Beyond the Myth (2004), Alias Man Ray (2009), and The Radical Camera: The Photo League 1936 - 1951 (2011). His work at the Museum has received a number of honors, including awards from the National Jewish Book Award, International Association of Art Critics, the New England Book Festival, the ForeWord Book of the Year, the San Francisco Book Festival, the Dedalus Foundation, and Choice Outstanding Academic Title. He has written catalogue essays for the Wexner Center for the Arts, Philadelphia Museum of Art, American Folk Art Museum and other institutions, and has published essays on a wide range of American and European artists, including Joseph Beuys, Ross Bleckner, Marcel Duchamp, Leon Golub, Ray Johnson, Yves Klein, Man Ray, Nancy Spero, Michael Snow, and Joan Snyder. Dr. Klein has a BA from Bennington College and a PhD in Art History from the Graduate Center, C.U.N.Y.

Nelly Silagy Benedek joined the Jewish Museum as Director of Education in 2004 and is currently Deputy Director, Education & Programs. She oversees the development and implementation of innovative programming for schools, families, and adult audiences including teachers, university students, and the general public with a special focus on accessibility. She is also in charge of Publications, involved in exhibition planning and interpretation, coordinates the Docent, Volunteer, and Internship Programs, and teaches in the Museum's galleries and online. Ms. Benedek previously served as Director of Education at the American Federation of Arts and, prior to that, was Associate Museum Educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for sixteen years where she developed educator workshops, taught after school classes for teens and families, coordinated volunteer training, and supervised the High School Apprenticeship Program. Her publications include the teacher resources "Auguste Rodin: The Burghers of Calais" (2000) and "Examining Identity in Contemporary Art and Photography" (2005). Ms. Benedek holds a Master of Arts degree from the Institute of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University where she was a College Scholar and majored in Art History, English, and Near Eastern Studies.

Susan L. Braunstein

Susan L. Braunstein is primarily responsible for the collections of historical and contemporary Judaica, antiquities and numismatics. She joined the staff in 1980 as a Research Associate after working at the Brooklyn Museum in the Department of Egyptian, Classical and Near Eastern Art. Dr. Braunstein has created numerous exhibitions for the Jewish Museum, including Israel in Antiquity: From David to Herod (1982); Jewish Life in Tsarist Russia: A World Rediscovered (1994); The Dead Sea Scrolls: Mysteries of the Ancient World (2008); As it were, So to speak: a Museum Collection in Dialogue with Barbara Bloom (2013); and Repetition and Difference (2015). Her specialties include the archaeology of Israel and Hanukkah lamps; in 2004 she published a catalogue of the Museum's entire collection of 1,022 Hanukkah lamps. Dr. Braunstein has a PhD in Art History and Archaeology from Columbia University.​ Most recently, she was the coordinating curator for the museum's newly installed collection display, Scenes from the Collection, which opened in January 2018.
