Ajay Bhalla is a Professor of Family Business and Innovation at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass). Since joining Bayes in 2001, his research and teaching has focused on leadership, succession and governance in family businesses, employee owned businesses, and digital transformation and innovation.
He is passionate about helping boards and executives discover (a) why resilience is vital (b) the challenges they face in current times and (c) how they can prepare better for tomorrow by nurturing capabilities they need to build lasting businesses.
Since 2018, he has also served as a Board Trustee at The Institute for Family Business (IFB) Research foundation. The foundation aims to support strong and thriving UK family business sector.

Winner of several teaching and research awards he has also won the most prestigious academic award for producing impactful managerial research at the 73rd Annual Academy of Management.
Working with research team involving Professor Joseph Lampel, Dr. Aneesh Banerjee and Dr. Pushkar Jha, he has helped shape UK government's policy on employee ownership. The impact of policy shaping work has resulted in several reports from 2010 to 2018 including one commissioned by UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). The research has been recognised as one of the seminal impact studies by REF in UK. This evidence base played an important role in the launch of a new UK government policy to encourage growth in the employee ownership sector and greater diversity of business models in the UK economy, including the injection of £75M annually to support transition to employee ownership.
Amit Nigam is a Professor in Management at the Bayes Business School. His research examines the political, sensemaking, and framing processes of organizational and institutional change - with a specific emphasis on professions and occupations in change processes. His work on institutional change looks at the sensemaking, communicative, and career-related processes by which new institutional logics and professions emerge. His work on organizational change focuses on processes of organizational search and learning, on change in organizational routines, and on how peoples' social positions shape their engagement with the change process. Empirically, he primarily looks at change processes in hospitals and healthcare systems.
His research has been published a mix of management, medical sociology, and medical journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, Strategic Organization, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, Social Science & Medicine, Annals of Emergency Medicine, Medical Care Research & Review and BMJ Leader. He is Deputy Editor-in-Chief at BMJ Leader, a journal targeted at clinical leaders in health care with a focus on leadership and management. André Spicer is Professor of Organisational Behaviour and the Head of the Faculty of Management. He is an expert in the areas of Organisational Behaviour, Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Professor Spicer is originally from Aotearoa/New Zealand. He began his studies at the University of Otago and holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne in Australia. Prior to joining City, he was a Professor of Organization Studies at the University of Warwick. He has been a visiting professor at London Business School, the Kellogg School at Northwestern, McGill University, Lund University, University of St Gallen and the University of Sydney.
Professor Spicer is an award winning teacher. He has worked with students at all levels - from first year under-graduates to top level executives in large organisations. He recently co-developed an award winning course on critical thinking for business students.
Professor Spicer is known for his research on wellbeing, organizational politics, organisational culture, employee identity, new organizational forms, work space and leadership. His work looks at a wide range of settings including knowledge intensive firms, financial institutions, government departments, seaports, universities, libraries, media organizations, and social movements.
He has published extensively in top scholarly journals such as Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies and Harvard Business Review. He has also published many books including 'The Stupidity Paradox' (profile), 'Metaphors we Lead By' (Routledge), 'The Wellness Syndrome' (Polity), ‘Business Bullshit' (Routledge) and ‘Desperately Seeking Self Improvement' (OR). He has received research funding from the ESRC, British Academy, Handelsbanken Foundation, the Welsh Assembly, and the Higher Education Innovation fund.
He is a frequent commentator in the global media outlets such as FT, CNN, BBC, CNBC, Channel Four, The Guardian, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Times, Telegraph, Independent and many others. Annette Yunus Pendrey is a PhD Candidate in Management at Bayes Business School, City, University of London.

Artur Garcez is Professor of Computer Science at City, University of London, and Chair of the University's Data Science Institute. In CebAI's leadership team, Artur will represent the Institute and explore the intersection between big data and the large information assets manipulated by CebAI technologies.
Bobby Banerjee is Professor of Management and Associate Dean of Research & Enterprise at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass). He was also Director of the Executive PhD program from 2013 to 2019. His primary research interests are in the areas of corporate social irresponsibility, sustainability, climate change and resistance movements. Other research interests include critical management studies, Indigenous ecology, and postcolonial studies. He has published extensively in leading scholarly journals and am the author of two books: Corporate Social Responsibility: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and the co-edited volume Organizations, Markets and Imperial Formations: Towards an Anthropology of Globalization. He serve on the editorial board of seven international journals and was a Senior Editor at Organization Studies from 2007 to 2019. He is an Associate Editor at Business & Society. He is also a cofounder of ETHOS: The Centre for Responsible Enterprise at Bayes Business School.
Prof Banerjee teaches an undergraduate module on Climate Change and the World Economy, which offers critical and multidisciplinary perspectives on climate change focusing on issues like climate justice, policy and climate activism. He also leads an MBA international study tour of Cuba where we meet business leaders, government officials, students and academics to understand the challenges of an economy in transition, with particular references to environmental and social sustainability. He also conduct various seminars for PhD candidates. He currently supervises 6 PhD candidates.

Charles Baden-Fuller is the Centenary Professor of Strategy and leader of the Strategy Group at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), ranked Global Top Ten by the Financial Times MSc survey of 2009 and top ten by the Financial Times MBA survey of 2011. He is famous for his strategy insights into the management of mature firms written up in many academic articles and his (coauthored) Harvard Business Press 'Rejuvenating the Mature Business'. He is also well known for his work on networked organisations and the management of young high technology firms, particularly in drug development-biotechnology.
His current research examines Business Models: what they are, how they can be improved and how they can be deployed in an increasingly digitalized world. This work is supported by a team of academics based at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), Sussex University, LSE, CREATE-Glasgow, Grenoble EM, and the Wharton School; any by more than £1.5 million of research funding from RCUK, EU and Mack Institute-Wharton School.
Charles Baden-Fuller has undertaken consulting assignments on strategy and mergers for large and small firms, and currently serves as director or advisor to several young high-tech firms as well as a trustee to a major charity. He combines this with being a senior fellow at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Charles Baden-Fuller has published more than 80 academic articles and in the last few years raised more than £4 million for research from the EU, and the UK ESRC and EPSRC. From 1999 to 2010, he was also Editor-in-chief, a leading international strategy journal read by practitioners and academics. Cliff joined Bayes in 2011 as a Professor in Organization Theory. He also served as Head of the Faculty of Management and Deputy Dean at Bayes between January 2011 and January 2016. Before coming to Bayes he spent 4 years at Queen Mary, University of London as a Professor of Organization Theory in the School of Business and Management and served as Dean of the Faculty of Law & Social Sciences (2007-2011). Harry Scarbrough is a Professor in Information Systems and Management, and Co-Director of the Centre for Healthcare Innovation Research (CHIR) which is a joint venture with the School of Health Sciences at City. Harry's research interests span the fields of organization studies, innovation and information systems through a focus on the social and behavioural aspects of science and technology-based innovation. Hugh Willmott is a Professor of Management and Organization Studies. He joined Bayes Business School in 2014 having been a Research Professor in Organization Studies at Cardiff Business School. He has previously held professorial appointments at Cambridge (Judge Business School) and UMIST (now Manchester Business School) and visiting appointments at Copenhagen Business School, University of Sydney and Uppsala University. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and Fellow of the Judge Business School Cambridge.
Hugh's research interests span the sub-fields of management organization studies. He has co-authored two major textbooks (Introducing Organizational Behaviour and Management, 3rd Edition and Organization Theory and Design: An International Perspective, 3rd Edition) and, additionally, has published over 20 books and contributed to a wide range of management and social science journals. He is particularly interested in the development and application of management theory by drawing upon the resources of critical social science. Substantively, his research has contributed to the areas of professionalization, teamwork, regulation, business ethics, management learning, accounting policy and practice, organizational culture, financialization, and the management of higher education. Most recently, he has been collaborating with Jeroen Veldman, Senior Research Fellow at Bayes, in study of comparative models of corporate governance: The Modern Corporation.
Hugh is presently an Associate Editor on The Academy of Management Review, having previously served an equivalent role on the journal Organization. He has been a board member of numerous other journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies. Professor Sodhi received his Ph.D. in management science from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA in 1994.
