NEW YORK - Key Persons

ANDREW BANTA

Andrew is a boomerang in our West Coast shop, he started off working for our sister company Pioneer Millworks, left for a bit, then returned as a layout specialist in our timber frame shop. An avid reader, Andrew enjoys books on subjects including popular science, politics, and history. He lives in his hometown of Newberg Oregon with his girlfriend and cat Onyx.

CALVIN RICHARDSON

Pete brings sustainable and energy efficient knowledge, ideas and techniques to each project, knowing that the built environment has the ability to make the world a better place. He feels that his best work is complimented by time retreating to the outdoors in feet of snow or head high waves. "My work is a lifestyle and it's always ongoing. Creating interesting spaces come from experiencing them first".

ETHAN DOMINA

Ethan comes to our construction group after a lifetime spent in the home remodeling business. His father owned a construction company, so Ethan grew up around build-sites and entered the trades full time right out of high school. He is also an avid outdoorsman and moonlights as a seasonal Elk hunting and fly-fishing guide in Colorado. Happily married to his wife who is studying to be a physician's assistant, the couple hope to someday add a new dog to the family.

GEOFF WOERNER

Geoff is a lifetime craftsman having grown up, and grown into, his family's custom fine woodworking shop in nearby Scottsville, NY. Today he leads the NEW woodworks installation crews, handles some project management, and enjoys hands-on crafting time in the shop whenever possible. He told us he "loves to work in the shop when I can. The variety of our work is great and challenging. Plus I work with some amazing fellow craftsmen!". Whenever he can, Geoff gets off the grid, hiking and spending time in the woods, preferably in a hammock. Geoff and Gail have been married for 34 years and enjoy four children and two grandkids. We hear he's also a great cook, understands sound design, and is handy with metal work.

Jonathan Orpin - Founder

Job Titles:
  • Founder
  • Founder / President, West Coast Projects
  • Oregon / Founder, President, Designer, Timber Framer, Tree - Hugger, Self - Confessed Business Cowboy.the Man Wears Many Hats Here
Segueing from commercial project work to join our design team in creating custom homes, Architectural Designer, Kyle, tells us he's enjoying the drafting and modeling of projects with similar base materials (wood, stone, etc) in stylistically infinite ways. Kyle is working towards becoming a licensed architect by workday and by weekend he's hiking, kayaking, and skiing, often with his dog, Chelsie. Admittedly not an amazing baker, Kyle did share that he can eat a seemingly unlimited amount of baked goods and fall asleep anywhere after Thanksgiving dinner. Jonathan's in Portland most of the time, overseeing the west coast end of our design & timber framing business-sometimes designing with clients, sometimes making new partnerships, sometimes onsite in a tool belt. A few times a year he hops a flight to New York to see what's kicking in Farmington. He's also been spotted in the desert or on a mountain-side getting his energy out on a dirt bike with son Jake. Basically he's a hard guy to pin down, or have sit still, but that's what we love about him most.

JORGE OCHOA

Jorge has been working in and around the construction field for as long as he can remember. Joining our West Coast Timber Frame team after college, he came to us thanks to a case of mistaken identity and got more than he bargained for raising our timber frames all over the county. Jorge was born and raised in the Salem Oregon area and moonlights as a volunteer wrestling coach and MMA fighter, but really is a kindhearted guy who loves long walks with his dog in nature deep down.

KYLE BARBER

Kyle is one of our licensed Architects and manages our east coast in-house design team. Born and raised in Western New York, he is passionate about high-performance building and an advocate for using sustainable materials in the design + build environment. He is a total building science nerd, Passive House consultant, and flexitarian foodie. Ask him about your vapor profile, or if brisket is vegetarian (yes, of course), just don't ask him about social media--he doesn't use it. Make no mistake, Bethany loves the outdoors. From snowboarding to exploring local parks...outside is her happy place. Although we do worry about her plans for turning her apartment into a houseplant "jungle". If she does get stuck inside you may find her sipping on quality coffee and talking to the plants, which is totally fine.

LIZZY LYNCH

Job Titles:
  • Marketing Coordinator
Our marketing coordinator Lizzy joins our team with a background in event planning and marketing in the manufacturing industry, bringing with her an organized mindset and passion for all things tiktok. Outside of work you will find her hiking with her dog Lincoln, attending concerts with her husband Rich, and chilling with her cat Stella.

LOU CASARTELLI

Lou joined our fine woodworking team as a seasoned designer & project manager, bringing with him a wildly diverse background in CNC programming, fine arts, higher education, and woodworking. A graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology School of American Craft, it was his love of traditional craftmanship that brought him to New Energy Works. He lives in the greater Rochester area and spends his free time crafting a handmade kayak that he plans to explore the Finger Lakes region with- weather permitting of course.

MARK MUSSER

Job Titles:
  • Member of Our Construction Team
When Mark, a member of our construction team, isn't building homes, he's exploring the outdoors while fishing, hiking, and camping. Much of his spare time is spent with his kids Amelia and Hans. Mark studied metal and wood sculpture at Alfred University, then lived in Connecticut for a number of years before returning to settle near our shop in Upstate New York.

MELISSA SCHMIDT

Job Titles:
  • Engineer
No stranger to the backcountry, our timber frame engineer Melissa always knows where to find fresh powder for snowboarding or her next "terrible" project car to bring back to life. Always ready to spread some love for tiny living and modular spaces, Melissa also considers herself a bit of a crossword puzzle aficionado.

QUENTIN OLIVIER

Quentin works with our West Coast design team and brings with him a passion for hands-on craft and building sciences. Hailing from the province of Brittany in France, which is famous for its seafood & shellfish, Portland was a natural place to land with his wife in the USA. Quentin is looking for a volleyball club to join and some board game groups to roll the dice on in the area, so if you have any suggestions or want to hang out with a verified Frenchman, hit him up!

Timber Framer
