Ben Francis is a Senior Associate in the Firm and a member of the Dispute Resolution Department. He has an interest in Civil and Commercial Litigation, Employment and Labour disputes as well as Constitutional and Human Rights Law. He also has interests in Sports Law and Insurance Law and has represented Clients in Courts of Law as well as various Tribunals. His ability to customize the wants of his Clients means that his Clients are taken through every step of the way with their various concerns being swiftly addressed.
Key among his achievements, Ben has defended a suit wherein the Plaintiff is pursuing the demerger of a company currently worth KES. 21 Billion. He also strenuously argued a commercial suit wherein his Client was awarded the contractual sum in excess of 2 million Euros.
Ben is passionate about rugby and can often be found scouring the World Rugby Laws. He is keen on engaging various stakeholders within the sport to ensure the highest attainable level both for the country and its players.

Benard Murunga is a Partner in the Firm and heads the Commercial and Corporate Law Department. In addition, he heads the Business Law Division. He has experience and interest in Commercial Law and Practice, Intellectual Property Law, Pensions Law, Conveyancing, Employment Law and Civil Litigation. He is admitted as a Patent Agent by the Kenya Industrial Property Institute and has been involved in various landmark Trade Mark cases. He has been consistently listed in the World's Leading Trade Mark Professionals survey conducted by World Trade Mark Review.
He has previously chaired the Board of Directors of Globology Limited and the Board of Trustees of Our Kid Foundation. Currently, he is a member of the Sports Disputes Tribunal, the Chair of the Centum Investments Staff Pension Scheme and in addition sits on the Council of the Association of Retirement Benefit Schemes.
Benard is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths. Chris Masitta is an Associate in the Firm and currently seconded at Minet Kenya Insurance Brokers Limited. He is well versed in Pensions Law and Administration, transactional lawyering and has experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate and Companies restructuring and general Commercial Law practice.
Chris is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from K a b a r a k University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He is currently enrolled at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland for the Masters in Oil and Gas Law degree program.
David Bonyi is a Partner in the Firm and heads the Pension Law Division under the Commercial and Corporate Law Department. He handles a broad range of pension law issues including provision of advice on; pension establishment and licensing, compliance with the Retirement Benefits Act and related legislation, pension governance strategy, investment requirements under the law; drafting pension scheme constitutive documents and service level agreements with pension service providers; litigation of pension disputes; advising on pension mergers, dissolution and liquidation, pension taxation issues, pension law training and pension law reforms; advising pension schemes in reviewing scheme rules and conversions of benefit designs. Besides Pension law, he is well experienced in employment law, financial sector regulation, statutory compliance, legal audit and corporate law.
He has served in various capacities at the Retirement Benefits Authority and was involved in its establishment and the drafting of subsidiary legislation under the Retirement Benefits Act, 1997. Over the years, he has been engaged with the IMF and World Bank to countries within the East African region as an Independent Consultant. David was the first CEO of the Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority of Uganda (UBRA); in July 2018 he was engaged by the Government of Gambia in drafting a new Pensions Act to replace the Pensions Act of 1950. He is currently a trustee of Kenya Ports Authority Pension Scheme.
David is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Notary Public and Commissioner for Oaths. James Gitau is an Associate in the Firm and heads the Conveyancing and Property Law Department. Within the department, he heads the Banking and Finance Division. He has advised various banks and clients including banks, among them KCB Bank, Development Bank of Kenya and Family Bank. James has handled complex and high-value transactions one of which included advising on a security worth KES. 400 Million.
He is well-adapted to the ever-changing conveyancing landscape and is well adept in handling complex transactions having helped clients unlock their transactions on the Ardhisasa platform. He also has experience in Real Estate and Project Development, Sectional Properties, having advised various clients on various high-value and complex transactions.
James has a keen interest in Data Protection and heads the Data Protection division of the Firm. He has been involved in training and advising clients on compliance with the Data Protection Act 2019.

John Simba is a Senior Partner in the Firm. He has experience and interest in Corporate Law, Banking Law and Securitization, Capital Markets, Company Restructure, Privatization and Pensions Law. He has participated as advisor and team member of companies listing and listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
Currently, he is Chair of the Board of Directors of Bamburi Cement Limited, Sanlam Kenya Plc, Funguo Investments Limited whilst also sitting on the Board of Carbacid CO 2 Limited and Almasi Beverages Limited (a Coca-Cola bottling company). He has previously been the Chief Executive Officer at the Industrial and Commercial Development Corporation (ICDC), the National Bank of Kenya and the immediate past Chancellor of Pwani University. He has also chaired the Nairobi Area Local Committee and Income Tax Tribunal of the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Margaret Muga is an Associate in the Firm attached to the Dispute Resolution and Commercial Departments. She is well versed in areas of legal practice including Civil and Commercial Litigation, Insurance Claims, Probate and Administration, Employment and Labour related claims, and Intellectual property litigation.
She also has a keen interest in technology, privacy and data protection and has experience in conducting data protection laws training, compliance legal audits and preparation of data protection manuals and policies for various organizations including offering advisory services in the form of opinions.
She has undertaken a data protection and privacy audit for a pension administrator and prepared a data protection compliance roadmap for the organization. She has also aided organization in registration with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and facilitated engagements between Clients and ODPC.
Margaret is also passionate about the protection of human rights and freedoms and has been actively involved in caucuses discussing anti-discrimination legislation in various jurisdictions around the world.

Maruti Khamala is a Partner in the Firm and heads the Insurance Litigation Division in the Firm. He has depth and experience in the vast areas of legal practice which include but are not limited to Civil Litigation, Debt Recovery, Insurance Claims and Family and Probate Litigation, Commercial Dispute Resolution, Employment Disputes, Land Disputes just to name a few.
He has been involved in various landmark cases covering the various judicial bodies including the High Court, Court of Appeal, Tribunals and Arbitrators. He was the Lead Counsel in the famous Weetabix v Manji Food Industries case where the Courts for the first time in Kenya established the protection of a family of Trade-Marks in Kenya. He has successfully acted for international corporations and Kenyan Public in employment disputes. He also renders advice to the Commercial Department and Conveyancing Departments on complex and high-risk transactions. His approach to service Clients and especially with regard to disputes is to resolve the dispute and add value to the Client the Firm is representing. He also continues to mentor young and upcoming Advocates. Currently, he is a Trustee of Hekima Center.

She has successfully defended and prosecuted matters before the Registrar of Trade Marks for local and international clients. Her special interest and keenness for Intellectual Property litigation has seen her navigate through uncharted waters having been involved in a geographical indication dispute that was among the first of its kind in Kenya.
She also advises Clients on various Intellectual Property matters and handles the review and drafting of agreements including assignments, licenses, franchising, distribution, non-disclosure and non-compete agreements as well as co-existence agreements.

She has successfully represented a Regulator in the coal mining project that was valued at Tillions of Kenya Shillings, a Fin Tech Company in a shareholder dispute worth KES 4 Billion, a Company at the Public Procurement and Administrative review Board in a tender worth KES. 6 Billion, a Client is a land dispute in Karen valued KES.
