Aaron M. Pomeranz

Aaron Pomeranz is a long-time resident of Hampton Roads and attended Kempsville High School where he played catcher for the Chiefs. He attended William and Mary, continued to play baseball for the Tribe, and graduated in 1992 with a degree in Business Administration. After college, Aaron decided to pursue a career in public service and became a police officer with the Norfolk Police Department, graduating the police academy in 1993. While in the police academy, Aaron started working toward his master's degree in Public Administration at Old Dominion University, which he completed in 1997. Throughout his almost-25 years in law enforcement, Aaron moved through the ranks in various assignments to include: the Detective Division, Vice and Narcotics, K-9, SWAT, and Homeland Security. As he neared retirement, Aaron knew that it was time to work toward the next step in his career and started attending law school locally at Regent University. He graduated from law school in 2016 while graduating in the top 20% of his class. Aaron retired from the police force on July 1, 2017, having obtained the rank of Captain, and started practicing law on the same day. Following law school, Aaron worked for a Tidewater law firm in a variety of roles, from serving as a Guardian ad-litem on custody matters and as court appointed counsel for indigent defendants, and practicing in the areas of family law, criminal defense, DUI, reckless driving and other traffic cases.

Allison W. Anders

Allison grew up in Chesterfield County, Virginia but always knew she would live in Virginia Beach one day. Both of her parents grew up in Virginia Beach, so her family visited there often and Allison still has lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins in the area. When it came time to decide where to go to college, Allison chose Old Dominion University. After graduating from ODU in 1996, she lived at the Oceanfront and worked as a legal secretary for a small law firm in Chesapeake. Allison always wanted to be a lawyer, but working as a legal secretary confirmed her choice. In 1998, Allison left Virginia Beach and moved to New Orleans to attend the College of Law at Loyola University in New Orleans. In order to make ends meet, she went to law school at night and worked as a paralegal during the day at a small law firm that practiced insurance defense. Allison graduated from law school in December 2001 and continued working for the law firm in New Orleans until July 2002. That August she started working as a law clerk for an Administrative Law Judge with the Department of Labor. After being admitted to the Virginia State Bar in June 2003, Allison started working for Jim McKenry at a small law firm in Virginia Beach. Her practice focused on traffic and misdemeanor defense and family law. In May 2006, she started focusing 100% of her practice to family law when she joined the firm of Kaufman & Canoles. Allison became a partner in January 2011 and remained at K&C until joining Parks Zeigler, PLLC in August 2015. Allison knew Brandon and Kellam through her practice as a family law attorney and respected both of them. Wanting to take more control over her practice, she reached out to Kellam and Brandon to see if she could join them, which was a good fit for all parties. Allison is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, of which there are less than ten in the Tidewater area and less than 60 in all of Virginia. AAML Fellows are highly skilled negotiators and litigators who represent individuals in all facets of family law. Outside of the law, Allison has served on the Board of Directors for REACH (Reading Enriches All Children), Inc. REACH is a local non-profit that supports the literacy needs of homeless and at-risk children living in shelters throughout the Hampton Roads area. Allison started as a director in 2009, became Vice-President of Programs in 2011, and served as President from 2012 through 2016.

After passing the Virginia bar exam in 1991, Andy worked in one of the largest law firms in the country in its Norfolk office, primarily defending large business and insurance companies. After several years of working at the large law firm, he moved to a smaller firm to have the opportunity to focus on helping individuals and their families. In 2000, Andy started his own law firm in Chesapeake, Virginia which grew into the very successful practice of Shilling & Barlow. In 2007, he passed the North Carolina bar and began to practice in the First District of North Carolina, eventually spending an equal amount of time on both sides of the border.

April M. Hopkins

April was born in Statesville, North Carolina but considers herself a West Virginia native, living there throughout her teenage years. It wasn't until halfway through high school that her father's job as a pastor brought her family to Virginia Beach. After graduating from Tallwood High School, April attended Old Dominion University and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Philosophy. After graduating ODU, April worked as an administrator for a life insurance company in Chesapeake for a year. This is where she was able to learn skills that would help her succeed in an administrative roll. Since she has always been interested in law, a position with Parks Zeigler seemed like a great fit as she moves along in her career. Outside of work, April enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies, and helping out at her church.

Ashley C. Daniello

Ashley was born and raised just south of the Virginia border on Knotts Island, North Carolina. Growing up surrounded by water, she has a deep love for all things boating-related and beach days. Ashley graduated from Currituck County High School and spent a year at Campbell University before returning to the beach and enrolling at Tidewater Community College to finish her studies. While enrolled, Ashley became employed full-time as a deputy clerk for the Virginia Beach Circuit Court Clerk's Office and there grew her interest in the legal field. Ashley transitioned to the private side of law after four years with the Clerk's office and took a position with a personal injury firm in 2014. After five+ years in personal injury, she found she was ready for a move and new opportunities, leading her to join the Parks Zeigler team. Ashley has a strong desire to help people succeed in difficult situations and believes that this will help her thrive in her position as a Paralegal with Parks Zeigler, PLLC. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband, Chris, pre-teen daughter, Caitlyn, and two young sons, Camden & Cole. While they enjoy all outdoor activities, during the summer, they are most likely to be found on the water. Ashley also loves going to wineries, shopping, and coffee dates with her friends.

Ashley Robinson Winn

Ashley Robinson Winn was born and grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. The family business, which his great-grandfather founded, Winn Nursery, was started in 1885 and remains in operation today.

Brooke K. Weirich

Brooke was born in Sturgis, Michigan and been back & forth to the Hampton Roads area since she was six years old. Brooke attended Churchland High School but returned to Michigan her senior year to graduate. She returned to Tidewater in 2000 and attended the Paralegal Certificate Program at Old Dominion University. Brooke started her legal career as a receptionist at a local law firm and then moved on to be an appeals secretary at the Norfolk Public Defender's Office for a period of 12 years until she decided to relocate to Raeford, North Carolina to work for the District Attorney's office in Hoke and Scotland County. Upon her return to Hampton Roads, she worked as a paralegal in a variety of civil, family, and criminal matters. Brooke resides in Portsmouth with her two children. Outside of work, Brooke loves for the beach, outdoor music, and spending time with family and friends making memories.

Caryn R. West

Caryn is a past president of the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association and a member of the Virginia Beach Bar Association. She also serves as a Director and Treasurer of the Norfolk & Portsmouth Bar Association Foundation, which generally supports projects that enhance the image of, and builds trust in, the legal system and provides scholarships for high school and law students. Caryn is also currently the Treasurer of the Hampton Roads Estate Planning Council. Outside of her practice of law, Caryn enjoys spending time with her husband, Marc, going on long walks on the beach with their yellow lab and boating when time and weather allow.

Cheri A. Dwyer

Cheri was born and raised in Upstate New York, relocating with her family to the Roanoke Valley in March 2008. She holds a B.A. degree in Sociology from Siena College, Loudonville, New York, where she graduated with honors and an Associates of Applied Science degree in Paralegal Studies from Schenectady County Community College, Schenectady, New York. Cheri has worked as a paralegal for the past sixteen years primarily in Family Law and Personal Injury Law. Outside of work, Cheri enjoys spending time with her husband, Ray, grown son, Timothy, and her canine baby Yorkie, Eddie. She also enjoys watching crime dramas & documentaries, crocheting, and getting together with friends. Cheri is passionate about stamping out bullying in schools and elsewhere and is currently working on a project to educate young children on this subject.

Christina M. Whitmore

Christina was raised in a military family that lived in several places while she was growing up. As a teen, her family settled in Virginia Beach, where she attended high school at Bayside. After graduating, Christina began raising her family and worked as a supervisor of several McDonald's in both Virginia and North Carolina. In 2014, she changed career paths and began working as a paralegal for Jason Barlow at the law firm of Shilling, Pass, and Barlow in Chesapeake for Jason Barlow. She has continued as Jason's paralegal since that time, moving with him to Parks Zeigler's Chesapeake office in 2021. In Christina's free time, she spends as much time as possible outdoors together with her large local extended family. She is passionate about baseball and the Washington Nationals, trying to travel to at least one game a year and remains optimistically hopeful about their chances. She also roots for the Dallas Cowboys but is somewhat less optimistic.

Deborah L. Montagna

Deborah is Tidewater born and raised, having lived in Norfolk and Virginia Beach for most of her life. She loves being near the ocean and cannot imagine life without salt water and sand. Deb is a Bayside High School graduate and attended Old Dominion University and Virginia Wesleyan College. She lived in Chapel Hill, NC for two years where she became a UNC Tarheel Basketball fan. Deb left State Farm in Charlottesville, where she was employed in the Injury Claim Center, to move back to Virginia Beach to work with her brother Kellam in establishing his own law practice in 2012. Prior to joining her brother Kellam, Deb worked in management positions in various fields, such as managed healthcare (QualChoice), educational student travel (Worldstrides), and property management (Colonial Properties). Deb's experience with managed healthcare extends to local companies such as Aetna, Cigna, and Sentara. While overseeing staffs of over 35, Deb has helped to train personnel to provide quality service while working to streamline processes and procedures. She obtained certifications in her various fields of industry (CAM-Certified Apartment Manager, AIC-Associate in Claims, and was working on the rigorous CPCU Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter before she left State Farm) always pursuing knowledge above-mandated requirements. Deb was married and survived divorce, remaining close to her in-laws. She is the mother of two children, Cara (and son-in-law Chris) and Paul (and daughter-in-law Courtney). She is "Grams" to eight grandchildren, Bryant, Maxwell, Mia, Scottie, Braylon, Luke, Aly and Rae. Deb believes being a grandmother is life's best reward. She loves having the house full of family and friends with food and laughter. Although Deb has traveled around the USA, Cancun, Bahamas, and Italy, her favorite place in the whole world is Disney World where she enjoys time spent with family and, of course, Mickey Mouse.

E. Kelly Shaffer

Kelly was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and graduated from Northampton County High School. In 1993, Kelly moved to Maryland's Eastern Shore, where she began working as a legal assistant and licensed titled agent for a prominent real estate law firm on Kent Island. In 2005, her husband's career relocated their family to Colorado. Kelly continued to work as a title agent in Colorado. The stunning views of the mountains inspired her to be adventurous, exploring, and taking day hikes through the many scenic trails in her spare time. Kelly and her family decided to return to the East Coast in 2008 and moved to Virginia Beach, where she immediately found employment as a legal assistant at a large Virginia Beach law firm. During her tenure, she was assigned to three attorneys spread across three different practice areas and was awarded two of the firm's significant performance and achievement awards. Working with Allison Anders while in that position furthered her interest in family law and sparked her desire to assist clients through some of their most sensitive situations. When Allison came to Parks Zeigler, PLLC, Kelly joined her as a family law paralegal and is dedicated to providing the firm's clients with a positive experience during what can be a very challenging time in their lives. When she is not at work, Kelly enjoys spending time with her husband and their two sons. Her oldest son has a career in retail management, and her youngest son is in college studying computer science. Kelly is close to her family and enjoys weekend shopping trips and lunches with her mother and sister. She also enjoys weekend visits with her in-laws in Maryland. During the summer months, the family often travels to the Eastern Shore for boating, fishing, kayaking, and picnics at the beach with family and friends.

Edwin S. Booth

Ed Booth is an experienced personal injury lawyer and partner at Parks Zeigler. Ed has been a lawyer since 2004, when he graduated from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. Prior to law school Ed lived in Raleigh, NC and attended North Carolina State University. Ed has always had family in Tidewater and spent time with his Uncle every summer at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. And in 2005 he moved to Tidewater and currently lives in Norfolk. And Ed especially loves the courtroom. He knew, early on, that he wanted his work to be in litigation and sought out prosecution - at least in part - for that reason. Trying personal injury cases in front of juries is his passion and he has had a history of success for his clients. Ed lives in Norfolk and enjoys spending time with his daughter and Boston Terrier. He enjoys traveling when he can and socializing with friends. Ed is a not infrequent commentator on the various legal topics for WVEC 13 News. He's been asked to weigh-in on a variety of legal matters.

Geri R. Clark

Geri was born and raised in Essex Fells, New Jersey. She moved to Virginia to attend Old Dominion University where she studied Marketing and played lacrosse. After college, she remained in Virginia Beach and worked as a systems analyst for a government contractor. Geri has always been intrigued with technology and has never shied away from testing and implementing new products and or software. In 1999, Geri and her husband Bob were blessed with triplets and her life changed dramatically (for the better). She started her own business working as a marketing consultant and focused on corporate internet presence, while also opening a photography studio specializing in youth sports and group photography. For the past 20 years, you would find Geri cheering on her children at the many activities they participated in (baseball, volleyball, swimming, band, field hockey, softball, lacrosse, track). Now that her children are spread around the country attending college, Geri works full time at Parks Zeigler as their Marketing Manager. Her love for technology and drive to master the ever-changing world of SEO is a perfect match for this position. When not working, Geri loves to travel, especially to sunny tropical islands. She enjoys sailing, diving, and just relaxing in the sand. Life isn't complete if she doesn't have her next trip planned.

Jackie E. Leitzel

Jackie was born and raised in Turbotville, Pennsylvania. She is a transplant to Virginia Beach due to her husband's military career. Her family has lived in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Connecticut. After several tours here with the Navy, her family decided to make Virginia Beach home when her husband retired in 2009. She has worked as administrative support staff for tax accountants and as managers for several companies over the years. Jackie worked from her home for nine years, possessing great time management and organizational skills that serve her well in the Parks Zeigler environment. Jackie loves a challenge in learning a new industry and helping our clients throughout the entire process of resolving their legal matters. She can always be counted on to have a friendly smile and a solution to situations as they arise. Outside of work, Jackie is a mom to two now adult children, Brad and Jessi. Her hobbies include anything to do with craft projects, growing plants, baking, and photography. She also enjoys cookouts in the backyard by the pool with her friends, kids, and dogs. She loves traveling to visit her friends to whichever parts of the world the military has taken them and her family back in Pennsylvania.

Jason A. Barlow

Jason was raised in the Great Bridge area of Chesapeake and attended Great Bridge High School. After graduation he went to Old Dominion University, getting a bachelor's degree in English Literature. Following college, in 1994 Jason began working as a Deputy at the Chesapeake Sheriff's Office. In 1997 he decided to attend law school and graduated in 2000 from The University of South Dakota Law School. Returning home, Jason's first job in the legal field was for the Virginia Legal Aid Society in Suffolk, where his practice focused on landlord/ tenant issues and disability claims. He went on to the Chesapeake Commonwealth's Attorney's Office when an opening came available and during his eight years in that office, Jason focused his time on prosecuting DUI charges, drug & gun offenses, and civil forfeiture cases. Jason transitioned to private practice becoming a partner at Shilling, Pass, and Barlow. In 2021, he was enticed to join Parks Zeigler's growing criminal practice as a partner in its Chesapeake office, moving into the firm's newly renovated office a block from the courthouse. Jason continues to focus his practice on criminal defense, specializing in DUI, drug & gun charges, as well as firearms rights restorations. In his free time, Jason spends as much time with his family as possible, usually outdoors at the beach. He remains a fan of the Chicago Cubs but is realistic about what that involves.

Kaitlyn M. May

Kellam T. Parks

After graduating from the first full class at Salem High School in Virginia Beach in 1992, Kellam attended a small liberal arts college, St. Andrews University in North Carolina, where he fell in love with learning. Kellam graduated summa cum laude with a philosophy degree with honors in 1996, and a triple minor of politics, psychology, and law. After working three jobs the summer after college to save up money, Kellam began law school at the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Kellam chose W&M due to its strong academic history and his desire to settle back in Tidewater once he graduated in 1999. Away from the office, Kellam spends as much time with his family as he can. He met his beautiful wife Kelly in August of 2002 and they were married a little less than two years later. Kellam and Kelly raised their daughter Avery, who has been a dedicated ballet and contemporary dancer since age three, and Avery continued that passion as a dance major at Old Dominion University. Avery graduated early in December, 2019 and is launching a dance studio co-owned with Kelly and Kellam in 2020. Family is important to Kellam and he is extremely fortunate that he has had his sister Deborah working with him at the firm as the Office Manager since the formation of the firm in 2012.

Kristen Konrad Johnstone

Kristen is a Roanoke native, graduating from Northside High School in north Roanoke County. Thinking that a career in medicine would be the best way to help people and with a full Army ROTC scholarship in hand, Kristen chose to attend the University of Virginia. While a second-year student, Kristen stumbled upon a rhetoric class, loved it, and became interested in the law. Kristen graduated with high distinction from UVA with a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and Communication Studies. After managing a prominent Charlottesville restaurant, Kristen began her professional career in law in 1989 as a Communications Officer with the Charlottesville-Albemarle-UVA Emergency Operations Center. After a year in that position, Kristen accepted a position as a Police Officer with the Charlottesville Police Department, working first in the uniform division and then as a detective in the investigations division. While she worked as a DARE officer and as an evidence technician while she was a patrol officer, Kristen particularly enjoyed her work as a detective, which was focused on crimes against children, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Attending law school was the next logical step, and Kristen attended Washington and Lee University's School of Law beginning in 1993. After having been away from Roanoke for more than 14 years, Kristen decided to return home after graduating from W&L to practice law, joining the firm of Osterhoudt, Ferguson, Natt, Aheron & Agee, P.C. as its only associate in 1996. She quickly set to work practicing in the same general areas-criminal law, family law, children's advocacy-in which she'd had extensive prior experience, as well as civil litigation and employment law. In recognition of her success, Kristen became a partner in the successor firm, OPN LAW, PLC in 2003. In the 25 years since, Kristen has gradually narrowed her practice focus to mostly family law matters, although still handling cases in related areas such as elder law and criminal law. Kristen has been certified by the state to represent children as a guardian ad litem since she passed the Bar, and also has served as court-appointed counsel in hundreds of felony, misdemeanor, and juvenile delinquency matters throughout her 25 year litigation career. When she is not practicing law, Kristen enjoys spending time with her husband and two grown children, as well as her Jack Russell Terriers, Katie Jane and Jack. She loves hiking, crosswords and history.

Lia K. Cumming

Lia was born and raised in Virginia Beach and is a second-generation Tidewater native. Having transplanted to Williamsburg, Virginia Lia now works remotely and joins us in the office at least once weekly. Lia graduated from Tallwood High School in 2004 and promptly began studies at Tidewater Community College thereafter. While enrolled at TCC full time, Lia also worked a full-time job as a receptionist for a local real estate law firm. There, Lia discovered her interest in the law and subsequently focused her education in the legal field, obtaining an Associates of Applied Sciences with a concentration in Paralegal Studies from TCC in 2008. Lia previously worked as a legal assistant/paralegal for a prominent Norfolk family law attorney and after over five years with her previous employer, Lia found her home here at Parks Zeigler, PLLC in 2012 (initially with Kellam as part of his solo practice prior to the formation of Parks Zeigler, PLLC). She truly believes that her work makes a difference in the community and she enjoys assisting clients through what is undoubtedly one of the more difficult times in their lives. Outside of work, Lia enjoys hiking with her dogs, cooking healthy meals (a newfound passion), boating & kayaking, going to concerts, and spending quality time with her family outdoors.

Maria E. Fallen

Maria was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and is a proud graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls. After marrying, the military took her family to the Tidewater area where she accepted employment with Andy Shilling as his legal secretary. Maria and Andy have been working together since 2007, where she has become well versed on both North Carolina and Virginia law, and transitioned to a paralegal role. 2018 was a year of change for Maria; her children all being grown and her husband retired from the Navy, gaining employment in Dahlgren, Virginia. Although Maria relocated to the Northern Neck of Virginia. She and Andy worked so well together that arrangements were made for her to begin working remotely from Dahlgren. Maria followed Andy to Parks Zeigler in 2021 where her remote work is even easier with the firm being paperless and cloud based. While not working, Maria's favorite thing to do is spend time with her family, especially her children. She also enjoys traveling around the country with her husband to watch her Eagles play at various stadiums. Maria's Eagles trips to date are Philly, Baltimore, Washington, Minnesota, Vegas, and her favorite stadium so far - Green Bay.

Melissa E. Chambley

Melissa was born and raised in Monroe, New Jersey. As a teenager, her family relocated to the Eastern Shore of Virginia where she graduated from Arcadia High School. Melissa joined the Navy right out of high school and served seven years as an Interior Communications Electrician where she was responsible for maintaining and repairing multi-million dollar shipboard communication systems. In 2014, Melissa decided to separate from the military to pursue a career in the legal field. She graduated with Honors from Tidewater Community College with her Associate of Applied Science Degree with a major in Paralegal Studies in 2016. Thereafter, she began pursuit of her Bachelor's Degree at Regent University. In 2018, Melissa began working as a Paralegal for The Law Office of Shelly F. Wood. During her off time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband and children doing anything outdoors. She and her husband have four daughters, who range in age from 16 to 3-year-old twins. An animal lover, Melissa and her husband rescued their two German Shepherds from a local rescue group in Virginia Beach. Growing up in a traditional Italian family, Melissa developed a passion for cooking and baking at a young age.

Morgan A. McEwen

Morgan was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She attended Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. After undergrad, Morgan decided it was time to fulfill her dream of living on the East Coast and attended William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. During law school, Morgan was a member of the Business Law Review and Vice President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution team where she was trained in arbitration, negotiation, and mediation. After three years in Virginia, Morgan decided she wanted to make it her permanent home. Experience After graduating from law school Morgan spent a year as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Chief Judge Mary Jane Hall and the Honorable Jerrauld C. Jones in the Norfolk Circuit Court. Morgan learned a lot during her clerkship about various areas of law and how the Court handles cases that come before it. She's looking forward to bringing her experience and skill in family law and civil law to Parks Zeigler. Practice Areas Family Law Away from the office, Morgan enjoys being active and spending her time with the many great friends she's made in Virginia. She enjoys golfing, scuba diving, going to the beach, and traveling. Although she loves Virginia, Morgan misses her family in Colorado and loves visiting her home state to hike, ski, and spend time with her two younger brothers.

Noelle M. Mueller

Noelle was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. After high school, she wanted to experience a new place and meet new people, which brought her to the Tidewater area. Her passion for marching band came with her as she marched with Old Dominion Monarch Marching Band throughout her college years. She considers the people she met through band her family away from home. After navigating several majors, Noelle settled on her long-time love; history, graduating with a major in history and a minor in art history. During and after college, Noelle held a variety of interesting jobs, including a short internship with the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation. Desiring to continue her exploration of new opportunities, she settled into Parks Zeigler's "Director of First Impressions" role. The idea of learning something new was exciting and her years in customer service has helped her adapt to the new position quickly. She is the friendly voice on the phone greeting callers, welcoming all visitors to the Virginia Beach office, and helping the firm with a million administrative tasks that keep Parks Zeigler going. Outside of work, Noelle enjoys spending time with her rambunctious Australian Shepherd, Indy. On a nice day, you can find them outside hiking and exploring new places together. Noelle also enjoys running, reading, and catching up on all things history.

Robin Winn Jr.

Robin was Finance Chairman of the Norfolk Democratic Committee and has been a member of Southside Lion's Club from 2017 to present. He is a member of Owens Lodge of the Freemasons, the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Beach Bar Association, and Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He was a Commissioner of the Chesapeake Circuit Court from 1992 until 1995 and has served on the Chesapeake Juvenile Detention Advisory Board. He ran for the House of Delegates in 1998. Mr. Winn is a member of First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk. Robin is married to Andrea Winn and has a son Robin Winn Jr. who is in law school at W&L. He likes to spend time with his family and enjoys the beach, politics, ODU football and basketball, orchestra and cinemas, travelling to Cancun, beach music, church activities, arts, museums, and exercise. Robin and his wife enjoy visiting historical sites in Virginia and other parts of the country. Robin loves to read historical books.

Shelly F. Wood

Larachelle "Shelly" Wood is a native of Chesapeake and attended Deep Creek High school, as did her mom and all her mother's siblings. She attended ODU and graduated in 1997 with a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice. Shelly knew she wanted to attend law school and throughout college and law school she worked part-time with local attorneys as a legal assistant in the areas of family and criminal law. Shelly attended Regent University School of Law and graduated in 2001. In law school, she competed on the mock trial team and served as an officer for the American Bar Association. In her third year, Shelly obtained a third-year practice license and practiced as an intern with the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's office. After passing the bar exam, Shelly's career began as a Public Defender for the City of Norfolk in 2002 handling misdemeanor and felony cases. Shelly went into private practice in January 2004 doing family law, including serving as a Guardian ad Litem on custody matters, and serving as court-appointed counsel for indigent defendants. Shelly continues to handle criminal and traffic cases in addition to her active family law practice.

Taylor J. Scruggs

Taylor was born in Kansas and raised in Chesapeake. She graduated from Deep Creek High School in 2016 and began her journey in the legal field in 2017 as a receptionist at a Virginia Beach law firm. Through her hard work and dedication she worked her way up to a paralegal position. Attracted to the prospect of helping people find the right lawyer for their needs and being the frontline interaction with a firm, Taylor joined Parks Zeigler, LLC as our intake specialist. Taylor's legal background provides her with a more in depth understanding to assist potential clients in the hardest times of their lives. Taylor resides in Norfolk with her beagle-mix, Waylon. During her free time, Taylor enjoys exploring the surrounding areas, especially Charlottesville. She also enjoys painting, crafting, cooking, and watching true crime documentaries.

Tidewater Roots

Kellam comes from a long line of Tidewater natives. His paternal grandfather's family grew up on the Eastern Shore and Kellam's grandfather, after whom he is named, moved to Norfolk as a young adult. Kellam's paternal grandmother grew up in Norfolk. Both his parents grew up on the Southside and Kellam was raised in Virginia Beach.
