Mediation does not follow a set procedure. The mediation may be conducted entirely in "private session" (i.e. meetings with the mediator and each party separately); it may take place almost entirely in "joint session" (where the mediator meets with all of the parties together) or it could involve a combination of the two. The mediator will discuss which is appropriate with the parties, but at mediation1st we will never force parties who do not wish to meet to be in the same room - our experience is that this can be counter productive... Mediating in person will always be a big part of what we do. But we're also experienced in online mediation, which means we were able to keep mediating safely throughout the Coronavirus Pandemic. We continue to recommend online mediation on pure mediation grounds. Basically, it's more convenient, has comparable or better settlement rates than in person mediation, and it's cheaper. But the choice is yours... We are accredited by the Civil Mediation..
