Agnès Bloch-Zupan

Agnès Bloch-Zupan graduated from Strasbourg Louis Pasteur University, Alsace, France, where she also obtained her PhD in developmental biology. Since 2007, she has been Professor of Oral Biology, Faculty of Dentistry, University of Strasbourg, France, and she coordinates the Reference Centre for rare oral and dental diseases, CRMR O-Rares, Pôle de Médecine et Chirurgie Bucco-Dentaires, Hôpitaux Universitaires de Strasbourg. Professor Bloch-Zupan is a Team Leader for "Craniofacial and oral development and associated anomalies" at the IGBMC (Institute of Genetics and Molecular and Cellular Biology), CNRS-UdS UMR7104, Inserm U1258, llkirch, France (https://www.igbmc.fr/en/). Since 2009, she has also been Honorary Professor at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, UK. From 2008 to 2013, she was Board-Member of the European Society of Human Genetics and since 2008 has been President of the Scientific Committee of the patient support group Hypophosphatasia Europe. She has been Chairperson and expert of the working group WG3 Genetics/Anomalies of the European COST (European Concerted Research Action B23) "Oral facial development and regeneration". Professor Bloch-Zupan is a renowned expert in odontogenetics. Her research interests are craniofacial and, specifically, palate and tooth development and their abnormalities. Her originality is to combine approaches both in mice (mutant mouse models) and human presenting these palate and teeth developmental defects as clinical phenotypical manifestations of rare diseases. She is also leading the D[4]/phenodent registry for human dental anomalies, linked to a collection of biological samples. She has been the project leader for European programs INTERREG IV A27 Offensive Sciences on orodental manifestations of rare diseases and the 2016-2019 INTERREG V Project No. 1.7 "RARENET: a trinational network for education, research and management of complex and rare diseases in the Upper Rhine" co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union. She developed a NGS diagnostic panel for rare diseases with orodental anomalies called GenoDENT. She was the representative for France of the COST action CA16234, European Cleft and Craniofacial Initiative for Equality in Care. Professor Bloch-Zupan wrote more than 165 publications, including 76 publications in peer-reviewed journals and more than 50 publications in professional journals. She has given 140 invited seminars or conferences and 200 presentations in congresses. In 2015, she received the prestigious Sciences Award of the Rhénane Académie and became a fellow of the Institute of Advanced Studies (USIAS) of the University of Strasbourg. She was the recipient in 2016, of the Micheline Blain Price from the RSBO (Réseau de Recherche en Santé Bucco-Dentaire et Osseuse) in Canada. Since 2021 she is an associate member of the French National Academy of Dentistry ANCD.

Anne O'Connell

Anne O'Connell is a Board certified in Paediatric Dentistry and is a Fellow of AAPD, and a Diplomate of the ABPD. Anne trained at the Eastman Dental Center with a further degree in Cariology from the University of Rochester, New York. She is past- President of the International Association of Dental Traumatology and is a Fellow of IADT. She remains active in numerous national and international organisations including IADT, AAPD, IADR and IAPD, and was Editor of IAPD in 2015-18. Her areas of interest include traumatic oral injuries, developmental defects of the dentition aesthetics in children, infant oral health and cariology. She has numerous publications across clinical and research topics and is a renowned international speaker.

Dr Nitesh Tewari

Dr Nitesh Tewari graduated and post graduated from prestigious King George's Medical University, Lucknow. He is a clinician par excellence and an academician to the core with post graduate teaching experience of over twelve years. Dr Tewari has 94 publications in reputed national and international journals and six test book contributions to his credit till date. He has been part of expert committees of Indian Council of Medical Research and Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. As a guest speaker, he has lectured in over 90 events in national and international platforms. He was awarded with best original research award in world congress of dental traumatology, San Diego, USA (2018), Outstanding Pedodontist Award by Craniofacial and Research Foundation in Sri Lanka (2018), Jens Ove Andreasen Award twice at 27 th and 28 th Conferences of International Association of Pediatric Dentistry (2019, 2021) and the global first-prize in original research competition in the 12th IFEA World Endodontics Congress 2021. He is a fellow of Academy of Dentistry International (USA), Japan Dental Association, International Association of Dental Traumatology (USA), International College of Dentists (USA) and Faculty of Dental Surgery Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). Presently he is working as Additional Professor in Centre for Dental Education and Research, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, serving as the Director of International Association of Dental Traumatology and General Secretary of Indian Society of Dental Traumatology.

John Featherstone

Professor John D. B. Featherstone holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Wellington (New Zealand). His research over the past 48 years has covered several aspects of cariology (study of tooth decay), he was one of the scientists who established how fluoride really works, and he was a pioneer in research on laser interactions with hard tissues. His work has led to the development and marketing of new lasers that have advanced laser dentistry. He spearheaded the development of CAMBRA® (caries management by risk assessment) at UCSF and is currently active in encouraging the implementation of CAMBRA in several venues. He has received numerous National and International awards, including the Distinguished Scientist Award for Research in Dental Caries from the International Association for Dental Research (2002); the Zsolnai Prize for outstanding research in dental caries from the European Organization for Caries Research (2002); T.H. Maiman Award: for excellence in dental laser research. Academy of Laser Dentistry, 2002; the Norton Ross Award for excellence in clinical research from the American Dental Association (2007); the Lifetime Achiievment Medal from the Alpha Omega International Dental Organization, 2022. He is as an Honorary Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fouchard Society, an honorary lifetime member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and also an honorary lifetime member of the American Dental Association. He has published over 320 papers and book chapters.

Monty Duggal

Monty Duggal was appointed Professor and Chair of Child Dental Health at University of Leeds, Leeds Dental Institute in 1999 where he oversaw a large postgraduate programme in Paediatric Dentistry which has international acclaim. In January 2017 he was appointed as Professor and Head of Paediatric Dentistry in Faculty of Dentistry, National University of Singapore and then as the Vice Dean and Faculty Research Director of the National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore (NUCOHS). In January 2021 he was invited to become the Inaugural Dean of the first College of Dental Medicine in Qatar, Qatar University. He has served in various senior positions, and was President of the European Academy of Paediatric Dentistry from 2014-2016 and has been on the board of EAPD for last 10 years. Professor Duggal has published over 175 research papers in international journals and is author of "Restorative Techniques in Paediatric Dentistry, which has been published in 7 languages and has sold over 16,000 copies worldwide. He is also a co-author of a textbook on Dental Traumatology and has Co-Edited "Paediatric Dentistry" by Oxford, now in its 5 th edition and is the most widely followed textbook in Paediatric dentistry in the world. More recently he authored "Paediatric Dentistry at a Glance", published by Blackwell Willey. He has administered research grants totaling over seven million pounds and is an internationally recognised researcher and clinician with main research interest is Cariology and Translation Research in Clinical Paediatric Dentistry, including dental traumatology and regenerative endodontics and auto-transplantation. Apart from Paediatric Dentistry his main interest is playing and watching cricket and any time spare from work and family is devoted to this important activity

Nicola Innes

Nicola Innes initially qualified as a Registered General Nurse, then gained a BSc in Life Sciences followed by an intercalated BMSc in Cellular/Molecular Pathology and BDS(hons). She spent seven years as a General Dentist in Scotland then completed a PhD based on a randomised control trial investigating the Hall Technique whilst part-time in practice and part-time at the University of Dundee. With over £7M grant capture, and around 100 publications in peer reviewed journals, Prof. Innes' research is internationally recognised within cariology (minimal intervention), paediatric (Child Friendly) dentistry, marginalised communities and evidence based dentistry and she has led NIHR funded UK-wide child dental research projects, participated in other UK-wide trials as well as ones based in Germany, Lithuania, Australia, Brazil, US and New Zealand, co-authored several Cochrane reviews related to cariology and sits on several national guidance development groups. In Dundee she co-led implementation of a new undergraduate curriculum and was Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching for 4 years. Prof. Innes took up the position of Dean of Cardiff Dental School at the beginning of August 2020.

Zoe Marshman

Zoe Marshman joined the University of Sheffield in 2002 and currently works as a professor of dental public health and as an honorary consultant. Her main interest is person-centred dental research to improve the oral health and treatment experiences of children and their families. Zoe has experience of leading large multi-centred randomised controlled trials, integrating qualitative research into trials and conducting process evaluations. She has published widely on topics including oral health-related quality of life, oral health promotion, behaviour change and dental anxiety. Zoe has been involved in the development of national clinical guidelines including leading the behaviour change chapter of the UK's evidence-based toolkit for prevention ‘Delivering Better Oral Health'.
