Dr Bruce McIvor

As a general radiologist, Bruce has diverse interests. His areas of expertise are hepato-pancreato-biliary radiology, musculoskeletal radiology and chest radiology. Bruce McIvor obtained his medical degree with distinction at Wits University in 1995. Bruce performed an internship at Johannesburg General Hospital, followed by a year as a medical officer at Baragwanath Hospital in pulmonology and neurology. After a year as a medical registrar at Groote Schuur Hospital, he joined the Department of Radiology as a registrar in 1999. Bruce has been a partner at Morton and Partners for more than 12 years since joining the practice in 2004.

Dr Denny Mathew

About: Dr Mathew completed his medical degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2012. After completing his internship and community service at Pietermaritzburg and Humansdorp Hospital respectively, he concluded his post-graduate studies at Wits University in June 2021. Dr Mathews is also looking forward to completing his fellowship in 2023, after being accepted into the Musckuloskeletal Radiology Fellowship program at McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada for a 1-year fellowship. Denny started his career in Radiology working a Capital Radiology (private practice based in Pretoria) before returning to Cape Town to join Morton and Partners in December 2022. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He sees himself as a bit of a sports enthusiast, and particularly enjoys rugby.

Dr Derik Basson

About: Derik attended the University of Stellenbosch, where he completed his medical degree in 2014, with distinction. After completing his internship and community service at Helen Joseph Hospital, he concluded his post-graduate studies at Wits University. On his return to Cape Town, Derik joined Morton and Partners as an associate in 2022. Derik enjoys spending leisure time with his wife and friends as well as being active. He is also a sports enthusiast, especially rugby and cricket.

Dr Donovan Jacobs

Dr Jacobs has a professional interest in Cardiovascular imaging and Interventional procedures. Donovan completed his medical training at the University of Kwazulu-Natal in 2005, followed by an internship at Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex and community service at Kimberley Hospital Complex. He stayed on as a Medical Officer in Paediatrics and obtained his Diploma in Child Health, before working in Psychiatry for a year. After this, he worked in Ireland as a Senior House Officer and Registrar in General Medicine and Emergency Medicine, in places such as Clonmel, Sligo and Dublin before returning to South Africa to pursue a career in radiology. Donovan worked as a Medical Officer in Emergency Medicine until he joined the Division of Radiology at Groote Schuur Hospital in 2014.

Dr Elias Pretorius

Elias recently returned from Belgium following a three-month apprenticeship to gain further experience in the field of head and neck imaging. He attended a two-year neuroradiology- and head & neck imaging fellowship in Calgary in July 2019. After his return in 2021, he was appointed as a Director at Morton & Partners. Elias remains involved with the University of Stellenbosch on a part-time basis and will be continuing with research and postgraduate training as far as possible. Elias has also been involved with the University of Stellenbosch GP refresher course, specifically in the basic interpretation of the chest radiography and as such has been invited by other hospitals and institutions to teach clinicians a basic approach to the chest radiograph. In his spare time, Elias likes to travel with his family and is a keen nature and animal enthusiast. He also enjoys marathons and playing music.

Dr Gavin Jackson

Gavin graduated from UCT in 2004. During his time as a student, he was an active member of SHAWCO, eventually running a SHAWCO student clinic in his 5th and 6th years. After his multi-disciplinary community service he worked as a Surgical Officer in Port Shepstone for 8 months before pursuing his other love - travelling; spending an extended time backpacking through Asia. Upon his return to South Africa in 2008 he completed a Diploma in Anaesthetics at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital (WITS) before taking up a registrar post in Diagnostic Radiology at Kalafong/ Steve Biko Hospital Complex (UP), completing his training in 2015 - receiving both his FCRad and Masters Degree. Gavin moved back to Cape Town at the end of 2015 working initially as a consultant Radiologist at Somerset Hospital and subsequently making a move to Morton and Partners in early 2016. Gavin completed a Fellowship in Cardiac Imaging at the University of Toronto in 2019 - 2020 and returned to Morton and Partners thereafter. In his spare time, Gavin enjoys trail running, hiking, travelling, scuba, creative dining experiences and spending quality time with his wife and family.

Dr Glen Cilliers

As a general radiologist, Dr Cilliers has ample knowledge of the various fields within radiology, but has a keen interest in mammography and related breast imaging and procedures.

Dr Heath Richards-Edwards

About: Growing up in Durban, Heath proudly attended Durban High School. He did his undergraduate training at UCT and graduated in 2010, going on to complete his internship at the Pietermaritzburg Hospital Complex. He spent a year working in Emergency Medicine during his community service in Mpumalanga and this is where the skills he developed using point-of-care ultrasound piqued his interest in Radiology. He spent 18 months working as a Medical Officer at Edendale Hospital before entering the registrar program at UCT. During this time, he gained knowledgeable insights into general diagnostic and interventive radiology. After passing his FCRad Diag in 2019 and completing his MMed thesis, he spent his last year of training coordinating the Musculoskeletal imaging services at Groote Schuur Hospital and has recently joined the Morton and Partners team in early 2021. He looks forward to the new challenges ahead and is currently pursuing fellowship opportunities, with an interest in MSK radiology, abroad. Heath enjoys running and walking outdoors as well as spending time with his family and friends. He is an avid rugby supporter and watcher. He and his wife are looking forward to welcoming their first child later this year.
