The LiFT project is a Highlight Topic funded by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). LiFT will investigate all types of lithium deposits in the Earth's crust, in a series of interlinked work packages, as shown in the figure. WP1 will focus on lithium brine systems; WP2 will investigate lithium deposits in sedimentary basins; and WP3 will study lithium in granites and pegmatites. WP4 covers environmental impacts and sustainable extraction of lithium, and WP5 will create a synthesis of lithium resources and fluxes in the whole lithium mineral system.
