Clare Daly

Job Titles:
  • Cancer Support Nurse
I started as a cancer support nurse at the Westerhaven cancer support centre (part of the Health Agency) in 2010, helping to set up and provide support to people and families affected by cancer in South West Edinburgh. My Background as a Registered General Nurse is in District nursing with various posts held over many years within hospital settings. In taking on this new role, I went on to complete a specialist degree in palliative care as part of my professional development. I enjoy & feel challenged by this job, it offers me the opportunity to provide holistic care, help & services for people who are going through a difficult time, often presenting with complex needs. In aiming to effectively support those facing the effects of cancer or long term conditions, I recently qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, & use these skills to further assist me in my role. In 2016 I embarked upon a sabbatical trip travelling & volunteering in weird & wonderful places; Outer Mongolia, Burma and India to name a few. My interests include singing, yoga, trying to play piano, learning to juggle 4 balls (not a euphemism) & orienteering with my (daughters) trusted dog ‘pippin' (who also works at Westerhaven as a therapet).

Kim Anderson

Job Titles:
  • Active Steps Coordinator
I started work at The Health Agency in 2021 following completion of a BSc (Hons) in Physical Activity and Health. 5 years ago, I lost just under 5 stone and became physically active which improved my physical and mental health dramatically and transformed my life. I am passionate about confronting health inequalities and believe everyone should be able to access support to improve their wellbeing through physical activity and healthy eating, regardless of where they live or their financial status. My role at The Health Agency allows me to do this. I love being able to support people to become more active and eat healthier by empowering them to make person centred behaviour changes to improve their health and wellbeing. Previously I worked as a weight loss consultant, I'm a level 3 personal trainer and have supported many people into running through establishing local jogscotland groups. When I'm not working, I love spending time with my daughters and partner, running ridiculously long distances, catching up with friends, going to music festivals, getting away in our campervan and enjoying food - both eating and cooking it.

Linda Bernard

Job Titles:
  • Cancer Support Worker
I started my new role in July 2021. I had previously been employed by another cancer support service and was aware of the challenges and impact that a cancer diagnosis and/or long-term condition can have upon individuals, carers and the wider family. I am also a practicing holistic therapist and very passionate about the links between physical, emotional, and mental health. I think it's fantastic that the Health Agency and Westerhaven offer such a diverse range of holistic services that recognise and support the whole person with health and wellness. In addition to my complementary therapy background, I hold a Degree in Criminology and Psychology. I have many years of experience working within the voluntary sector in areas of mental health and addiction, addressing health and social inequalities. Outside of work I love walking and fitness, which includes climbing Munros, even though I don't particularly like heights! I love music festivals and gigs and enjoy jumping on a plane to combine a city break with music if I get the chance. I also enjoy spending time with family, friends and my 2 cats (or any animal).

Rhona Donaldson

Job Titles:
  • Willow Garden Coordinator
I have been working as a community gardener with The Health Agency in Wester Hailes since 2014. My project, the Willow Gardening Project is a weekly volunteering opportunity open to anyone. We work collectively to support a wildlife garden in the Calders area of Wester Hailes. Working both in the therapeutic field and food growing, a natural next step was to follow my interest in medicinal uses of our native plants. I have enjoyed in the past few years building on this knowledge with Grass Roots Remedies, and teaching others about the plants on our doorstep we can use therapeutically. I have a particular interest in emotional and mental health having witnessed the transformational effect of connection with our natural environment. Outside of all this I am a social justice activist with a love of pedalling the back roads of Scotland, climbing mountains, and ceilidh dancing.

Rossi Craig

Job Titles:
  • Westerhaven Manager
I started working at The Health Agency in 2006, where I originally worked as a sessional worker and volunteer before I got a role as a community development worker, helping develop, set up and run various services in the local community. As my time at the Agency progressed, in 2010 I branched out to become the project Manager for the Westerhaven cancer support centre a role which involved setting up, developing, and running of this new cancer support centre in SW Edinburgh. I hold a degree in community education and have always felt drawn to help support and empower people within their own local communities, to improve upon their mental and physical wellbeing. I have always enjoyed working at The Health Agency in various roles and feel privileged to be able to manage the Westerhaven, a service I feel is vital in helping to support people at very difficult times in their lives. To further enhance my role and support the people I work with I studied and qualified as a CBT therapist in 2020. In my spare time I like to exercise, see friends, and walk my dog. Holidays and travel were another one of my previous passions, although since the arrival of my triplet girls several years ago a lot of my entertainment and spare energy goes into trying to keep up with them and watching them develop.
