CHAI began supporting Indonesia's Ministry of Health in 2006 to improve HIV diagnosis and treatment in the Papua and West Papua regions. CHAI helped the government implement its Rapidly Expanding Access to Care for HIV/AIDS (REACH) program to expand access to quality HIV care, treatment, and support services, and train thousands of health workers. CHAI helped the government establish nine Centers of Excellence (CoE) to serve as regional referral centers for complicated cases and as a base for expert teams to provide technical assistance to primary health centers.
