Cal Knight joined John Muir Health as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in April 2011. Cal is a goal oriented advocate for the Mission and Vision of John Muir Health and has helped the organization advance important elements of the Vision, including development of a highly innovative outpatient services model and a streamlined board and governance structure. As CEO, Cal has worked to create successful partnerships with other health systems and has led the organization through the transformation of its information technology platform (including installation of Epic, a comprehensive Electronic Medical Record). Cal came to John Muir Health after 16 years at Swedish Health Services in Seattle, Washington where he most recently served as President and Chief Operating Officer.
At Swedish, Cal was responsible for all operations across the health system, including its five hospital campuses and multiple ambulatory care sites. Cal was a key leader and strategist in building a multi-specialty physician organization and in the development of highly-regarded service lines in Orthopedics, Cancer, Cardiovascular, Neurosciences, Women & Infants, and Pediatrics. Swedish Health Services, which has 1,492 hospital beds is one of the leading health care systems in the Pacific Northwest and has been widely recognized for quality, innovation and service.
Prior to Swedish Health Services, Cal worked at SafeCare Health Services and then at OrNda Healthcare where he served as a Regional Operations Executive, responsible for hospitals and other healthcare businesses in several states. Cal began his health administration career at National Medical Enterprises where he served as a community hospital CEO in California and then in Florida.
He holds Master's degrees in Health Administration and Business Administration from the University of Iowa, as well as a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree from Western Washington University.

Jane oversees the operations of John Muir Health's two acute care medical centers located in Walnut Creek (554-licensed beds) and Concord (244-licensed beds), and a third facility for Behavioral Health services (73-licensed beds) also located in Concord, serving Contra Costa and Solano counties. Combined, the three facilities have net revenues of $1.3 billion, 3,686 FTEs, and 32,620 discharges. Her responsibilities also include overseeing strategic service lines, medical staff relations, and accountability for completion of major expansion projects at all three facilities.
In addition to these responsibilities, Jane serves as Governing Board Co-Chair of the highly successful Children's Specialty Services Partnership, a joint venture with Stanford Children's Health/Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. She also serves as a member of the John Muir Health Executive Operations Council, which makes key decisions and sets the strategic direction for the health system. In addition, she recently oversaw the $300M implementation and rollout of the Epic© electronic medical records system throughout John Muir Health.
Before assuming her new position, Jane served as President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Walnut Creek Medical Center for 10 years. Under her leadership, the medical center achieved numerous quality recognitions, including being named as one of America's and the region's top hospitals by U.S. News and World Report with a nationally ranked service(s) for 11 consecutive years. The medical center was also named by Healthgrades as one of America's 50 Best Hospitals from 2014-2017 and achieved the Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence (top 5% nationally for clinical excellence) for seven consecutive years. The Walnut Creek Medical Center also achieved Magnet® recognition status for excellence in nursing services and quality nursing care in 2008 and re-designation in 2013.
Prior to joining John Muir Health in 2006 as President and Chief Administrative Officer of the Walnut Creek Medical Center, Ms. Willemsen served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, California. She also worked at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago as Vice President of Nursing and Allied Health and Assistant Director of Nursing. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Iowa, and a Master of Management degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

The John Muir Health Physician Network is a not-for-profit medical foundation with more 1,000 primary care and specialist physicians. The physicians associated with the John Muir Health Physician Network belong to John Muir Medical Group, John Muir Health Multispecialty Medical Group, John Muir Health Cardiovascular Medical Group or are independent physicians practicing in our community. These physicians accept all HMO and most PPO insurance plans, as well as Medicare.
The John Muir Health Physician Network owns and operates practices staffed by foundation physicians in locations from Brentwood to Livermore to Oakland, including outpatient centers in Brentwood, Concord, Pleasanton, Tice Valley/Rossmoor and Walnut Creek. The John Muir Health Physician Network also provides hospitalists (in-patient medical services) at John Muir Health's two hospitals and partner hospital, San Ramon Regional Medical Center.
John Muir Medical Group's 350 clinician members work within the John Muir Health System's hospitals, urgent care and outpatient clinics in multiple specialties, mostly in primary care.

Mike Thomas is Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer. In this role, Mike is responsible for change management initiatives and strategies including, but not limited to, developing care management infrastructure, information technology and risk analytics capabilities. Mike is also responsible for pursuing alignment strategies with independent physician partners and external continuum partners.
