If you really wanted to go back to the beginning, my homesteading journey began when I was a child picking June bugs off my grandmother's tomato plants and devouring refrigerator pickles almost as fast as my mother could make them. But I didn't know I wanted to be a homesteader until decades later... For all practical purposes, my homesteading journey began when I asked my husband (boyfriend, at the time) how he knew what he wanted to do with such clarity. I'd gone to community college off and on for a degree in business administration because it seemed like it might be useful for someone who didn't really know what they wanted to do, but I was 4 years in to that 2 year degree at that point.
