Carmen Malvaris

Carmen Malvaris an independent architect and designer. Her firm focuses on commercial interior design, exhibition staging, fashion and design related events, and market and trends analysis in the space and product world. She studied in USA where she graduated with Honors in Architecture. She was in charge of the new expansion of retail spaces for Camper and Mango, and worked previously with Tous and Desigual among other Spanish retail brands. The collaboration with those brands included work at the exhibition level as well as the spatial one. She has been in charge of the shops prototype development for the expansion retail chain ZARA (Inditex). In her studio Carmen continuously cooperates, among others, with ACME (Asociación de creadores de Moda de España). Among her last stagings the following stand out: Madrid Moda /Queen Sofia Spanish Institute /NY September /2007, 25 years Roberto Verino NY- Gabarron Fundación / March 2008 ,David Delfín Eye Beam NY Fashion Week / February 2009, Exhibition 4 Eyes /National Library of Nueva York / September 2009, Back to the Roots /A journey to the future of Crafmanship, where she was exhibition commissioner and also in charge of the staging production/October 2011. The Gabarron Foundation for the Arts. New York. At the same time, Carmen widens her teaching experience lecturing in Spain, Latin America and USA about such varied topics as globalization through design, international expansion strategies or trends and consumption analysis. She also works as professor at Universities like Elisava in Barcelona, Pratt Institute in New York or the New York School of Interior Design. Carmen´s work has been reviewed in several publications as reference of design innovation and globalization as well as exponent of new trends.
