AARON MELIUS

He has ten years' experience in human services working for Holy Family Institute as a family counselor before joining the team at PA SERVES. Aaron is a 2005 graduate of Mount Aloysius College where he was Captain of the Men's Basketball Team. Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, playing flag football and basketball and he also coaches T-ball in the community.

Adam Pritchard

Adam Pritchard is a Research Associate at the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) working to understand the employment, education, and wellness needs of veterans and their families. Prior to joining IVMF, he spent 15 years as a researcher in the violence against women field, studying topics like domestic violence, stalking, sexual assault and other victimization among college students, and non-fatal strangulation. As the former Research Coordinator for the University of Kentucky Center for Research on Violence Against Women (CRVAW), he also worked on research, policy, and state legislative issues related to protective orders and the training needs of advocates and mental health professionals. As sociology faculty at the University of Central Florida, he partnered with law enforcement and university victim services to study and improve systemic responses to victimization. Most recently, he worked as the Senior Survey Researcher for the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) where he helped lead nationwide data collection efforts around pay equity and representation in higher education. He has over 50 research publications, including 19 peer-reviewed articles in the domestic violence field. His multi-disciplinary research has focused on building partnerships between practitioners and a variety of experts with the goal of advancing knowledge as well as producing translational results that improve direct service to the population of study. Raised in a military family, Dr. Pritchard has advocated for veterans while partnering with law enforcement, teaching veteran-friendly online and in-person courses, mentoring graduate student veterans, and promoting best practices for hiring and supporting veterans employed in higher ed. Dr. Pritchard holds a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Kentucky.

Adrianna (Lucy) Catalino

Adrianna (Lucy) Catalino joined the IVMF's enrollment service team as an Enrollment Coordinator in October 2021. In this position, Catalino works with active duty and transitioning service members, veterans, and family members by addressing their inquiries, and supporting the enrollment processes at the IVMF. Prior to joining the IVMF, Catalino expanded her customer service skills while working as a flight attendant with individuals from all over the world. It was during this time that she connected with many veterans and learned of their stories while serving them on her flights, igniting her passion to serve those who have served us. Catalino is a Syracuse native and she is happy to be part of the IVMF and Syracuse University family. Catalino looks forward to the opportunity to help service members, veterans and their families achieve their civilian career skills training and professional goals.

AJ Florkowski

AJ Florkowski is responsible for managing the grant reporting requirements set forth by the numerous funders of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families, while also serving as a project manager for a variety of tasks essential to managing and growing IVMF's portfolio of programs and services.

Alicia Mock serves as the Installation Program Coordinator for IVMF's Onward to Opportunity at Fort Bragg. Before joining IVMF, Alicia served as the Director of Operations for North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME), a comprehensive public-private partnership designed to make North Carolina the number one state for military employment. She helped the organization educate employers to encourage them to hire our military and military spouse talent along with facilitating monthly hiring events to connect our military talent with meaningful employment. Alicia is a proud military spouse to Brad Mock, an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Bragg. Graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, she currently is fulfilling her passion for helping our military community fulfill their personal goals through the training programs offered by O2O.

Anthony Cosby is the Director for Employer Outreach at the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) at Syracuse University. He provides management, operational, recruitment expertise, and creative effort to engage employer support to provide workforce placement and employment opportunities for transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses. Anthony previously led the launch of the Onward to Opportunity (O2O) program at Joint Base San Antonio. As a former Alumni Career Coach for The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Anthony provided individual career coaching, occupational information, mentorship, and job search strategies for over 91,000 active alumni worldwide, 30,000 students and 2,800 student veterans. He was previously a Campus Director for Webster University at Fort Sam Houston. Anthony is a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, having retired with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his career, he held key leadership positions and made numerous deployments including an assignment aboard USS Roosevelt (DDG 80) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He received numerous Navy Commendation Medals and was recognized as the U.S. Navy Recruiter of the Year while stationed at Navy Recruiting District San Antonio. Anthony holds a bachelor's degree in public administration from Auburn University and a master's degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

Ashley Cavender

Cavender is responsible for building a centralized alumni services function for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families. In this role, she is responsible for leading and managing alumni engagement and relationship management for the Institute's program alumni. Cavender collaborates with the post-program support advisor and program managers across the Institute to ensure resources and engagement opportunities are provided for all program alumni. Prior to joining IVMF, Cavender worked at Syracuse University's Office of Alumni Engagement on the Outreach Programs team. In this role, she worked with countless alumni volunteers as well as on-campus and external partners to coordinate programs and streamline processes. Cavender holds a bachelor's degree from Nazareth College and is currently pursuing an MBA at Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.

Ashley Lopez G'12 joined the Institute for Veterans and Military Families in January 2021 as the Project Portfolio Manager for Research and Evaluation Initiatives. Ashley provides Project Management support across the various sponsored Research and Evaluation projects while also providing support on internal initiatives, operations, and processes. Lopez returned to SU from Norwich University in Vermont, known as America's Oldest Private Military College. In her most recent position as Project Manager, Ashley significantly contributed to the foundation and development of Norwich's Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) department. Ashley was responsible for managing program development as well as the CPE team of instructional designers and instructors. Ashley's work on the CPE programs supported the success of the organization in meeting its enrollment and financial goals during its first year. Ashley also served in a Student Services role during her time at Norwich. Prior to entering the field of higher education, Ashley directed an Early Childhood Learning Center in Vermont and spent two years as an elementary school teacher at a public charter school in Washington DC. Ashley holds a master's degree in Literacy Education from Syracuse University and an MBA with a focus on Leadership from Norwich University. Ashley is most excited to continue supporting veteran and military families through her role within the IVMF.

Bart Womack currently serves as the Program Manager for Onward to Opportunity, a champion for the professional training and certification of Veterans, Guard, Reserves and their Spouses, in Greater Pittsburgh, PA. Bart is a 29-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having retired in 2006 with the rank of Sergeant Major. Bart served as a Drill Sergeant, Ranger Instructor, Relief Commander and Sergeant of the Guard at Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He culminated his career in dual roles as Commandant, and the 101st Airborne Division Command Sergeant Major, and completed deployments to Iraq and Korea. His personal awards include two Bronze Stars and the Legion of Merit. Since retiring, Bart has worked in the entertainment industry as an actor and military-technical advisor for feature film and television and served on the Advisory Board for the GI Film Festival, known as ‘Sundance for the Troops'. Bart's volunteers to mentor Army ROTC Cadets, and is the VP of Strategy and Development and a board member for the Armed Forces Equestrian Center (AFEC). Bart has appeared in media discussing his book Embedded Enemy: The Insider Threat. He speaks publicly on the topic of Situational Awareness Security. Bart holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Park University and an MBA from Waynesburg University.

Becky Ganley

Becky Ganley serves as the installation program coordinator for IVMF's Onward to Opportunity-Veteran Career Transition Program (O2O-VCTP) at Camp Lejeune. O2O-VCTP is one of the most transformative efforts underway in the nation addressing the transition needs of our veterans, service members, and military families. Before joining IVMF, Becky served as an operations associate in New York City at American Corporate Partners (ACP), a national nonprofit dedicated to assisting service members and veterans in their transition from the military to civilian/corporate world. She helped facilitate yearlong mentorships with Fortune 500 professionals for career development and ultimately helped service members and veterans find meaningful employment. During her time at ACP, Becky managed a relationship with O2O-VCTP. Coincidentally, in June of 2017 she decided to relocate to Wilmington, NC. This is when she became aware of the available opportunity at Camp Lejeune. She is excited to continue her work with the military community and is eager to make an impact. Becky received her bachelor's degree in political science and graduated from CUNY Brooklyn College in May of 2015. In college, she was the catcher/centerfielder for the women's softball team. Becky is 1 of 7 and enjoys having a large family. She will be exploring everything North Carolina has to offer having grown up in Brooklyn.

Benjamin Dufay

Ben Dufay is the Northwest Region Program Manager for Onward to Opportunity. Ben is a veteran of both the U.S. Army and Navy, retiring as an Army Chief Warrant Officer Three. He served as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman in the Navy before commissioning as an Aviation Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army. Ben completed deployments to Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt. He served a collective 17 years and received numerous medals and distinctions including the Senior Aviator Badge, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal, among others. Ben holds a master's degree in organizational leadership from Brandman University.

Billie Jo Lenning

Billie Jo Lenning joined the IVMF in April 2018. In her role as Data Solutions Architect, she leads the IVMF enterprise data management strategy, including designing data management solutions, setting data management priorities, establishing and enforcing best practices, and supporting existing infrastructure. In this role, she works across all functions of the IVMF to set strategic priorities that position the Institute to be a national exemplar in data analytics, particularly among veteran serving organizations. Lenning comes to the IVMF with 17 years of experience in data management at SUNY Upstate Medical University. There, she led her team in the implementation of their Business Intelligence strategy. She holds a bachelor's of science degree in computer engineering from Clarkson University.

Billy Lockhart

Billy Lockhart joined the IVMF's enrollment service team as an enrollment coordinator in June 2017. In this position, Lockhart works with active duty and transitioning service members, veterans, their and family members by addressing their inquiries, and supporting the enrollment processes at the IVMF. Lockhart is an expert in customer service, and conflict resolution. Before joining the IVMF, Lockhart spent nearly 15 years in the telecommunications industry working for Verizon Wireless. Throughout his tenure with Verizon, Lockhart was able to take on a number of roles, and projects including customer service, tech support, training, call center operations, and acting management. Born and raised in the Rochester, NY Lockhart is new to the Syracuse area. During the relocation process, Lockhart found the opportunity to change gears within his professional life energizing. Lockhart finds working for the IVMF to be an enriching experience since it provides the opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of service members, veterans, and their families.

Bonnie Chapman

Bonnie Chapman ‘03 joined the Institute for Veterans and Military Families in October 2015 as the Director of Evaluation and Innovation to provide additional expertise in the field of evaluation. She works collaboratively within the Institute for the continued advancement of excellence in all IVMF endeavors. Chapman was previously the Director of Quality for the SUNY Upstate Cancer Center. She managed and was responsible for all quality initiatives leading to multiple successful accreditations from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, and the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy. Chapman successfully led two teams through challenging transitions, accreditations, and growth, and as a result, each was presented with the President's Award for Clinical Team of the Year - Downtown Campus in 2015 and 2016. Before coming to Syracuse, Chapman worked for the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Environmental and Occupational Epidemiology with a primary focus on research using large data sets from national studies. Her statistical modeling and analysis resulted in several publications on maternal occupation and birth defect outcomes. Bonnie holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Syracuse University, a master's degree in public health from SUNY Albany. She is also a licensed registered nurse.

Brian Collins

Brian Collins joined the Institute for Veterans and Military Families Advising Services team in March of 2019 as an Academic Advisor. Brian is responsible for maintaining open lines of communication with IVMF students and assists with questions or concerns regarding certificate coursework, program offerings, and career advice. Brian is a 21-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He held numerous positions culminating in assignments as First Sergeant and Deputy Commandant at the Fort Drum, NY Non-Commissioned Officers Academy. During his service, Brian deployed to Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan. During his career, he was awarded numerous distinctions including the Combat Action Badge, two Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, five Army Achievement Medals, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal and an Iraq Campaign Medal, among others. Prior to joining the IVMF team, Brian served as the Pathfinder Scout for the USO Fort Drum, NY Transition Services team, helping service members and their families through the transition process by directly connecting them with a network of veteran-friendly organizations across the nation that offer relevant services with finding a civilian job, taking advantage of their GI Bill, securing financial stability, or any other aspect of the transition process. Brian Iglesias

Brian Iglesias is the Head of Sports for Verizon Digital Entertainment platforms. He leads content acquisition and partner management and is responsible for live sports and original content. He works with studios, agencies, production companies, and brands such as the NFL and the NBA. Previous to Verizon, Brian founded and led his own production company, Veterans Expeditionary Media, where he produced live television, feature films, documentaries, and digital productions. He is currently working on a military related play directed by a two-time Tony award winner. Brian is an active member of the Producers Guild of America. Brian spent 14 years on active duty and served as both an enlisted Marine and a commissioned officer. He was an infantry platoon commander and company commander before transitioning to the Reserves. As a Marine Reservist, he serves as the Executive Officer for Marine Corps Office of Communication NYC and supports the motion picture and national media missions. He is a graduate of both the Expeditionary Warfare School and the Command & Staff College. Brian was recently selected to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He holds a BA in Film & Media Arts from Temple University and an MBA from Syracuse University. Bruce E. Mosler

Mosler served as CEO of Cushman & Wakefield, the world's largest independent real estate services firm, from 2005-10 and secured IFIL Investments, S.P.A. (now EXOR) as the firm's new majority shareholder. As chairman, he advises major tenants and investors on strategic real estate matters, taking a senior role in managing and developing key client relationships on behalf of Cushman & Wakefield on a global basis. He continues to advise Vornado, Cohen Brothers, NYU University Hospital (the Langone Center) and Madison Square Garden, among others. Mosler first earned the prestigious Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY) "Deal of the Year" award in 1998, for the creation of the Reuters Building at 3 Times Square, a transaction that consolidated 14 separate locations for the global media giant and solidified the renaissance of Times Square. His second "Deal of the Year" award recognized his success in bringing the European retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) to its U.S. flagship location on Fifth Avenue. Bryan Radliff

Bryan Radliff serves as the CyberVets Program Manager in the Onward to Opportunity Program for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). CyberVets is a skills-to-job pathway that aims to fast-track veterans into high-demand cyber careers by provides no-cost employment training, industry certifications and career services to transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses. Bryan is a 31-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He served as an enlisted medical supply specialist, and an Armor/Cavalry officer before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He completed various worldwide assignments, including four deployments (three to Iraq and one to Bosnia-Herzegovina) culminating in an assignment as the Senior Regular Army Advisor to the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia National Guards. He was honored for his service with a Legion of Merit, A Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters, A Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, A Combat Action Badge, A Parachutist Badge and A Joint Chiefs of Staff Identification Badge.

Chet Seidel

Chet holds a bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from SUNY Potsdam. He is the son of a twenty-year U.S. Air Force veteran and has lived in Syracuse long enough to consider it home.

David DosReis joined us from the Providence VA Medical Center, where he served as the Patient Advocate for the past eight years. In that role, he worked with veterans to get the care they needed and their concerns addressed. David enlisted in the Massachusetts Army National Guard a month after high school graduation and was at basic training when we were attacked on 9/11. He served as a combat medic and deployed to Iraq in 2004/2005, where was awarded the Combat Medical Badge for his rendering of care to wounded soldiers and civilians while under fire. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, David began his career helping his fellow veterans and earned his bachelor's in communications from Bridgewater State University while working at the VA full-time. His first duty station was in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, a time that began Kasim's lifelong love affair with New England. While stationed at Naval Station Newport in 1995, the Navy selected Kasim to attend college and become an officer. That same year, he met his future wife, Rosaria, a native of Italy who grew up in Westerly, Rhode Island. Kasim also received his commission as a naval officer that year and was deployed in the Mediterranean and Persian Gulf area of operations. After his assignments at sea, Kasim became an instructor at the Surface Warfare Officers School at Naval Station Newport in 2004. While in Newport, Kasim earned a Master's Degree in National Strategic Studies at the U.S. Naval War College in 2006. Beginning in July 2007, Kasim served on several deployments with the Navy's Sixth and Fifth Fleets in increasing roles of responsibility and returned home to Rhode Island in July 2013 to become a faculty member at the Naval War College.

Patricia Piazza is the Tri-Base Jacksonville, Florida Onward to Opportunity Program Installation Manager for the Institute for Veterans and Military Families. Patricia is a Workforce Education and Employment Specialist with 13 years of extensive knowledge and experience in Human Resource Development. Prior to joining O2O, Patricia worked as the Family Employment Readiness Program (FERP) Manager for the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) at Naval Station Mayport and the NE Florida Military Family Employment Advocate (MFEA) with FCWD, Inc., a position she held from 2004 until 2015. Patricia is also an Adjunct Professor for Barry University where she teaches Human Resource courses as well as Southern Illinois University where she teaches Workforce Education and Development. Patricia is an honorably retired veteran having served over 20 years in the U.S Army and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. During her time in service, she completed multiple deployments and was honored with 20 decorations. She holds a dual master's degree in human resource development and management and Leadership from Webster University and a bachelor's degree in workforce education and development from Southern Illinois University. She is a certified Job and Career Transition and Job Development Coach (JCTC/JCDC). She is a member of the Florida Defense Alliance (FDA) Military Family Support Working Group (MFSWG).
