Cashel Cahill

Job Titles:
  • CBL As a Structural Engineer
Cashel graduated from the University of Southampton in 2017 with a Masters degree in Civil Engineering and has subsequently gained over three years of experience working as a Structural Engineer based in Guernsey, involved on a number of projects across the Channel Islands of varying size and complexity. Cashel joined CBL as a Structural Engineer in August 2019, his role involves working as part of a professional design team on large commercial and residential developments, as well as having sole responsibility for smaller projects. Cashel is a graduate member of the Institution of Structural Engineers and is currently working towards obtaining chartered status. In his spare time, Cashel can be found on the golf course or playing rugby for the St. Jacques Vikings.

Dan Newton

Job Titles:
  • ASSOCIATE
Dan has over 14 years' experience working in the Structural and Civil Engineering industry in various multinational consultancies. Originally a Structural Draughtsman, Dan progressed his career into structural design, structural inspections (including mast and towers), project management and BIM (BRE accredited to PIM/TIM). Dan originally joined CBL in April 2012, working on multiple residential, commercial and industrial schemes for a period of 2 years. After a 3 year hiatus Dan re-joined CBL in November 2017 as Hampshire office Associate. In his spare time, regardless of the weather, Dan can be found surfing, windsurfing or kitesurfing in various locations around the mainland UK coastline.

Dominika Wilczewska

Dominika came to Guernsey in 2012 and joined CBL in 2014. She has since then completed her BTEC Level 3 and Level 4 at the College of Further Education, and has built up experience on both small and large drainage projects, as well as, detailing and design for both Civil and Structural Engineering. In her free time, Dominika can be found running, being outdoors, and constantly buying cars.

James Seymour

Born and educated in Guernsey, James joined Campbell and Bloese Ltd in March 2009 returning to the island after nearly eighteen years. Having obtained a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Leeds in 1995, James gained experience at a range of UK practices. Immediately prior to joining Campbell & Bloese Ltd, James was a Senior Director with JP Chick & Partners Ltd in Norwich, with significant experience in historic buildings, insurance work and timber frame design. In his spare time, James can usually be found in his greenhouse where he grows hedge veg, or down at the beach fishing or kayaking with his son.

Joel Plummer

Joel joined CBL Consulting in October 2015 as a Graduate Structural Engineer in the Guernsey office, after graduating from the University of Plymouth with a degree in Civil Engineering. Since then he has been a part of large on and off-island projects, and gained a vast amount of knowledge in various fields. Out of hours, Joel skateboards, plays golf and enjoys watching Tottenham Hotspur. He also claims to make the best Bean-Jar in the Bailiwick.

Karl Brun

Karl joined CBL in October 2020 as an Apprentice Structural Technician in the Guernsey office shortly after the completion of his A-Levels at the Guernsey Grammar School. Karl will continue his learning in 2021 when he will begin studying Construction and The Built Environment at the Guernsey College of Further Education.

Liz Roland

After a successful 26 year career managing child care centres across the Channel Islands, Liz came across to CBL in July 2008 to manage 'big kids'. As the office manager, Liz is the guru of all things 'officey', supporting the team with finances, stock, and the day to day running of the office. If you have queries on bills, invoices or general administration Liz is there. When not watching her boys playing football at Sylvans, Liz can be found busy with crafts such as cross-stitch and knitting or relaxing with a good book.

Mark McKenzie

Job Titles:
  • Chartered Structural Engineer
Mark joined CBL Consulting in December 2007. Mark is a Chartered Structural Engineer with more than 20 years' experience in the construction industry. He has experience in building design, industrial engineering, and has advised on major construction projects in the UK, ranging from residential developments to industrial facilities and a number of major school development projects. In his little spare time, Mark can be found being ordered around by his Wife, three daughters, and various foster children. When he does escape, Mark enjoys watching and playing rugby.

Nick Barton

Job Titles:
  • Chartered Structural Engineer
Nick joined Campbell and Bloese Ltd in 2006 to oversee the transition of the business. In the last thirteen years, he has been at the forefront of the business both in Guernsey and the UK. Nick is a chartered Structural Engineer with a wealth of experience in the construction industry. He has professional experience in a wide range of specialist areas, including building design, industrial engineering and project management, and has advised on major construction projects in both the UK and overseas, ranging from residential developments and commercial buildings to major civic and industrial facilities.

Nicola Hodges

Nicola joined CBL Consulting in our UK office at the start of 2022 as a senior structural technician. Nicola has enjoyed over 35 years working in the drawing office environment initially in Technical Publications & navigational Charting. Then moving over to Structural Engineering 25 years ago, has worked in various areas of the industry including multiply storey timber frame buildings, large steel & concrete frame building to small domestic projects, working closely with Engineers, Architects & clients to produce the most appropriate solution, using various software. In her spare time Nicola enjoys playing bowls, pottering in her garden, playing with her grandchildren & watching Southampton FC.

Riley King

Riley joined CBL in July 2019 as an Apprentice Structural Technician in the Guernsey office shortly after the completion of his A-Levels. Riley is now back studying and working toward the completion of the apprenticeship scheme at the Guernsey College of Further Education in Construction and The Built Environment, Since joining the office Riley has worked on a variety of different projects and has vastly expanded his range of knowledge and insight to the industry.

Stuart Ryan

Job Titles:
  • SENIOR TECHNICIAN
Stuart has enjoyed 30 years working within Structural Engineering on projects ranging up to £150million in value. His scope of work has been across all sectors and includes retail/leisure, high rise residential, water treatment, heavy industrial, education and health. With this considerable depth of experience, Stuart has developed an ability to provide practical buildable solutions to the many complexities that occur within projects. In recent years Stuart has gained considerable experience using 3D Revit software which now provides a valuable resource to us within the BIM environment. Stuart enjoys watching Leicester City FC, mountain biking and is a regular at Glastonbury Festival.
