Attorney Richard D. Bayer has more than 20 years of experience in the litigation of Maine workers' compensation disputes at all levels, including the Maine WCB Appellate Division and the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, throughout the State of Maine. His practice has also included administrative appeals and other civil matters involving injuries and disability. He worked as a Staff Attorney with the Social Security Appeals office (Office of Disability Hearings and Review) in the late 1990s, as an in-house attorney at Maine's largest workers' compensation carrier in the early 2000s, and then as an partner at Robinson, Kriger and McCallum, Maine's largest workers' compensation defense firm. Attorney Bayer is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maine State Bar Association, the Cumberland Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers' Association (AILA). He is a volunteer attorney with the Immigration Lawyers Advocacy Project (ILAP) and with Portland Adult Education English for Speakers of Other Languages. For 2020, Attorney Bayer is listed in the 26th Edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in workers' compensation law. In 2021, Richard was the recipient of the "Pro Bono Attorney of the Year" award, presented by the Maine Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, Maine's state-wide immigrant legal services organization.
