Dr. Michelle Hayes

  • Executive Director
Dr. Hayes has enjoyed a successful, twenty-five-year career as an educator and administrator. She has maintained the highest professional performance standards, including a diverse range of teaching and administrative functions, illustrated by her past successes. In addition to her tenure as a classroom teacher, she is an experienced assistant principal, curriculum supervisor, teacher mentor, substitute teacher trainer, and employee evaluator. She has created professional development plans, data dashboards, board presentations, curriculum plans, and has managed over 100 employees and 850 students. Her portfolio is extensive and its depth is rare for a person of her age. Dr. Hayes currently develops, presents, and creates professional development workshops on the ACT, social-emotional learning, discipline, classroom management, leadership development, standards-based grading, human resources, assertive discipline, technology, special education, and reading and writing across the curriculum. She has a hands-on education approach with an open-door policy for teachers, students, parents, staff, and the community.

Dr. Thomasyne Hill

  • Senior Coordinator: GEAR UP Jefferson County
Ed.D. in Special Education with a concentration in SLP, The University of Alabama Dr. Hill has been a principal player in the work at CAMP for five years through GEAR UP Alabama, and most recently, GEAR UP Jefferson County. Prior to her work with CAMP, Dr. Hill served as an assistant professor at University of Montevallo for nine years. Dr. HilI retired as a speech-language pathologist with the Jefferson County School System in 2013, and she previously worked in Florida and Georgia as a speech-language pathologist.

Jeff Nichols - COO

Job Titles:
  • Director of Operations
Mr. Nichols has a vast amount of experience in public education and is driven by his desire to see young people grow and reach their full potential. He has served as a math teacher, football and baseball coach, instructional technology specialist, and administrator. His eleven years of administrative experience includes assistant principal positions at Sweetwater High School (K12), Hoover High School and Thompson High School. As Director of Operations, Mr. Nichols oversees all CAMP programs as well as other operations including financial and human resource functions.

Sarah Grace Skillern

Job Titles:
  • Logistics Manager
Sarah Grace provides valuable capacity building and creates critical organizational structure, delivering direct services throughout CAMP's programing. In addition to her primary job functions, Sarah Grace is serving as the AmeriCorps VISTA Supervisor and the lead on FAFSA outreach. Prior to her role as the Logistics Manager, Sarah Grace served with CAMP as an AmeriCorps State Member through the YWCA of Central Alabama.

Trenton Tidwell
