Alex Higgins

Alex is a native to Richmond who grew up skateboarding and visiting the James River with friends in his spare time. He received a bachelor's degree in Urban Planning from VCU in 2010. After spending time in the work force after graduation, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in healthcare. In 2017, he earned his Associate's in Occupational Therapy Assistant. He spends most of his time outside of work with his Black lab mix, Ace, and working on amateur car projects. He enjoys the challenge of adapting activities so they can be safely completed with less effort and less pain.

Dana Dip

Dana joined our billing team in 2019. She enjoys helping patients navigate their insurance plans. In her spare time, Dana enjoys crafting, reading a best seller, and binge-watching Netflix. She is the proud mama of 2 girls, a teen and a toddler, and "furmama" to 2 crazy pups.

David Galpern

Dr. Galpern specializes in diagnostic care and treatment of issues affecting the hands, wrists, and arms, including arthritis, trigger finger, Dupuytren's contracture, ganglions, carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), paronychia, fractures, and sports-related injuries such as tennis elbow. His office also has X-ray and fluoroscopy facilities on-site. A board-certified hand surgeon, Dr. Galpern is dedicated to providing the entire continuum of hand, wrist, and arm care on-site at Comprehensive Hand Surgery Center. He uses his extensive training and knowledge in surgical and nonsurgical treatments for traumatic, degenerative, and repetitive strain injuries (RSIs). Patients can rely on him to guide them through the medical process, from prompt and accurate diagnosis to treatment and rehabilitation. Dr. Galpern earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn. He completed a residency at New York Methodist Hospital, also in Brooklyn, followed by a hand surgery fellowship at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky. A second-hand surgery fellowship took him to Australia, where he trained at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Queensland. Dr. Galpern has practiced in Richmond since 2011.

Denosha Shiimi is a Patient Administrator at Comprehensive Hand Surgery Center. Starting her healthcare journey in 2000, Denosha has provided not only first class, but stellar customer service to thousands of patients. She decided to dedicate her life to healthcare because it is her true passion, and leaving patients satisfied is truly rewarding for her. Her work ethic, ambition, and drive to succeed sets her apart from the rest. In her spare time, she likes to craft, cook, redecorate her home and spend time with her family.

Katie Parker

Job Titles:

Katie has been a medical assistant for Dr. David Galpern since 2017. Katie primarily deals with direct patient care in the office by triaging, taking x-rays, and scheduling surgeries. In her free time, Katie enjoys horseback riding and practicing aerial arts.
