(CHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we see firsthand the devastating effects of this epidemic on individuals and families... Compassion Health Care, Inc., which began as The Caswell Family Medical Center, Inc., has expanded over the years with growth financed by a series of grant-funded projects: a 1989 grant from the State of North Carolina funded the enlargement of the building; a 1992 Healthy Start grant allowed the center to begin providing prenatal care; in 1995 the Katherine B. Reynolds Foundation contributed funds for another building expansion; the March of Dimes Foundation awarded funding for ongoing incentive programs for prenatal patients; a 1995 foundation-funded grant supported improving preventive health programs, and in 2001 new x-ray equipment and the renovation of the existing x-ray room were funded..
