Get It Straight is proud to partner with National Children's Oral Health Foundation: America's ToothFairy (NCOHF) to combat pediatric dental disease, a silent epidemic hurting children. Pediatric dental disease, more commonly known as tooth decay, is recognized as the number-one chronic childhood illness. Statistics show that 50% of children will develop tooth decay by the third grade and 86% by age 17. Suffering in severe pain from the disease, millions of children are unable to eat, sleep, or concentrate in school. Left untreated, rampant tooth decay causes pain, low self-esteem, sleep deprivation, malnourishment, and dangerous infections. Statistics show that 50% of children will suffer from tooth decay by the third grade and 86% will have tooth decay by age 17. Inhibiting a child's ability to grow and learn, tooth decay and gum disease can also lead to lifelong health problems and limited employment potential. Dr. Warshawsky has been recognized as a Dentist of Distinction for taking a leadership role in improving children's oral health in his community by providing critical services to needy teens through the Tomorrow's SMILES program.
