As chief of medical staff at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, Alpa Shah, MD, brings exceptional clinical leadership, institutional knowledge, and unique expertise in medical staff governance to her role. Dr. Shah's focus is to create a vision and establish direction for the medical staff, promote strategic initiatives and programs, and engage with medical staff and administrative leadership to build an environment of extraordinary patient care. She serves on the HonorHealth Board of Directors and is a member of the Board Quality and Strategic Planning Committees. Dr. Shah is also an active member of the Network Bylaws Committee. Appointed to the medical staff in 2006, she is the recipient of multiple teaching awards and maintains her academic appointment at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Family Medicine Residency Program. She is a medical consultant and case reviewer for the Arizona Medical Board. Dr. Shah moved to Arizona after completing her medical training and fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center-Strong Memorial Hospital and New York Medical College Brooklyn-Queens. She is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine. Dr. Shah is an actively practicing clinician and is a managing partner of SPCC, a pulmonary and critical care practice located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Andrew Kassir, MD, is the president of the Colon & Rectal Clinic of Scottsdale. Dr. Kassir graduated from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where he earned his doctorate of medicine. After surgical training in Ireland and a research fellowship at University of California in San Diego, he completed a general surgery residency in Phoenix as well as a colon and rectal fellowship at the Colon and Rectal Clinic in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Kassir has academic appointments as associated professor of surgery at Creighton Medical School at the University of Arizona. He was recently appointed on the HonorHealth Board of Directors and serves on several board committees for both the board and medical staff. Dr. Kassir has presented at many prestigious national meetings such as the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, The Arizona Chapter of The American College of Surgeons and The World Robotic Society. He has co-authored numerous articles and published in several journals and textbooks, including The Diseases of Colon & Rectal Surgery and Sabiston Surgery Textbook.

David Price - Senior vice president, ambulatory operations and business development
David Price, MHA, MBA, oversees HonorHealth's ambulatory growth initiatives, including oversight of ambulatory offerings, joint venture partnerships and service lines.
He joined HonorHealth in June 2011 as vice president, Clinical and Support Services at Deer Valley Medical Center, and he most recently served as CEO of Scottsdale Thompson Peak, Deer Valley and Sonoran Crossing medical centers.
David is an energetic, visible, results-driven healthcare executive with a proven track record of optimizing performance by developing collaborative and engaged high-performing teams. During his 25-year career, he has been part of major growth and expansion projects to expand healthcare services for the community.
He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing from Brigham Young University, and two master's degrees in healthcare administration and business administration, both from the University of Minnesota. David and his wife April have four children.
Dr. Delbert Matt Maddox has over 25 years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon and is board certified with fellowship training in sports medicine. He has extensive experience in arthroscopic procedures for the shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle. This includes arthritis and cartilage issues such as knee replacement, cartilage transplant and treatment for articular cartilage loss or disorders. He also treats many common orthopedic conditions including sprains, strains and fractures in athletes and non-athletes as well as work related injuries.
Dr. Maddox has been team physician for several professional teams including hockey, football and baseball. He was a college athlete himself and has great perspective on his patients' activities and needs.
Drew Brown has served on the board of HonorHealth and its predecessor organizations since 1997. He served as board chair from 2010-2012. Drew currently chairs the Strategic Planning Committee and serves on the Nominating and Governance and Executive Committees of the board. He is a founding partner of DMB, a real estate development and investment firm doing business in Arizona and other western states. He guided the company's growth and evolution for the past 35 years and provided strategic and creative leadership for each of DMB's major projects. Prior to Founding DMB in 1984, Drew was a partner and director in the Phoenix law firm of Fennemore Craig, where he specialized in real estate and finance. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and received his juris doctorate from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Mr. Brown has been active in a number of professional, civic and community organizations. He is a member of the board of directors of Phoenix Art Museum, The Flinn Foundation, Arizona Commerce Authority and is a member of Notre Dame Law School Advisory Council. He previously served as a trustee of the Urban Land Institute and chairman of Greater Phoenix Leadership. Mr. Brown resides with his wife, Laurie, in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Frank Pugh serves as Arizona Market president of BOK Financial Insurance, a subsidiary of BOK Financial, a regional financial services company. BOK Financial Insurance provides brokerage and consulting services in risk management and employee benefits. Mr. Pugh has been with BOK Financial Insurance for over 25 years. Prior to establishing what is now the Arizona location of BOK Financial Insurance. Frank was a healthcare management and finance executive working for healthcare systems and large medical practices. He is vice chair of the board of HonorHealth, and he also serves as the chairperson of the HonorHealth Captive Insurance Exchange. Frank created and chairs a leadership forum for CEOs of nonprofit organizations. He is past director and chair of the board of John C. Lincoln Health Network and past director and chair of the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation. Frank's previous community service includes volunteer work of various types with Valley of the Sun United Way, Gift of Life and Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix.

Fred Hessler is a retired managing director of Citigroup where he headed its healthcare group for the not-for-profit sector from 1990 through 2013. Fred oversaw strategic advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and banking services to health systems, free-standing hospitals, physician groups, managed care plans and related ancillary companies. He is one of the founders of the nationally recognized AHA/HFMA/Citigroup Healthcare Investor Conference.
Fred joined the HonorHealth board in 2018. He is currently a member of the board of directors of PierianDx and the Center for Health Design. Fred has also served on the boards of Surgical Care Affiliates (SCAI), MedAssets (MDAS), LHP Hospital Group, Public Health Institute, Health Research and Education Trust, Health Insights Foundation and the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. He also served on the American Hospital Association Operations Committee and chaired its Investment Committee from 2002 to 2016. Fred was a member of The Center for Healthcare Governance's Blue Ribbon Panel on Trustee Core Competencies. Prior to joining Citigroup in 1985, Fred was a partner and regional director of healthcare at Ernst & Young. He is a non-practicing certified public accountant. Fred is a graduate of Wayne State University. Fred and his wife, Kathie Mundy, reside in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Gary leads all six of HonorHealth's medical centers: Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, John C. Lincoln Medical Center, Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center, Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center, Deer Valley Medical Center and Sonoran Crossing Medical Center.
Gary led the cancer services partnership and the formation of the HonorHealth Virginia G. Piper Cancer Care Network. Before joining the organization in 1989, he worked at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago as the clinical manager in the Pharmacy Department.
He has served as a board member and board chairman for the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, and as a board member for the Scottsdale Captive Insurance company. Gary is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Gary earned both his bachelor's degree in pharmacy and master's degree from the University of Illinois. He has completed a post-graduate residency at the University of Illinois Hospital.

Jared Langkilde leads the philanthropic and fundraising efforts for HonorHealth Foundation, directly supporting the breakthrough research and compassionate care offered throughout HonorHealth's network of patient services and community programs.
Before joining the HonorHealth Foundation, Jared served as executive director of Development and Community Relations at Mesa Community College where he successfully built and led its comprehensive fundraising division.
Jared serves as Chairman of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Boyce Thompson Arboretum Board of Directors. For the city of Mesa, he served as a board member for the Economic Development Board, the Planning and Zoning Board and the Board of Adjustments. He also has served on the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce/International Commerce Committee.
He earned his master's degree from Arizona State University's W.P. Carey School of Business, a bachelor's degree from the University of Phoenix and an associate's degree from Mesa Community College.

As Chief Transformation Officer, Jim Whitfill, MD, brings leadership expertise in healthcare, organizational culture, and information technology to promote a customer-centric experience and offer new ways to deliver more complete, coordinated and accessible care. He brings together data, technology and marketing to advance technical innovations, such as call center technology, CRM systems, apps and digital tools, to give both the customer and caregivers an enhanced approach to care.
By focusing the efforts of these business areas and finding the right digital tools, Dr. Whitfill aims to improve the customer journey so that it becomes more seamless and focused on the needs of the individual. The goal is to transform the organization into a more patient focused and provider friendly health system which better serves the surrounding community.
Before joining HonorHealth, Dr. Whitfill served as chief medical officer for Innovation Care Partners, a clinically integrated network in Phoenix. He also serves as a clinical associate professor in the departments of Internal Medicine and Biomedical Informatics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix.
Dr. Whitfill previously held or holds advisory board responsibilities at GE Healthcare, Philips Healthcare, IDX and KLAS. In July 2018, he began his term as the board chair of the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine and is a regular faculty member for the Radiology Society of North America and the American College of Radiology. He is a founding member of the HIMSS-SIIM community for Enterprise Imaging.
Dr. Whitfill received his BA from Princeton University and his MD from the University of Pennsylvania. He trained in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed a fellowship in medical informatics.

As the chief physician executive, John Neil, MD, brings leadership experience, an understanding of the changing local and national healthcare environment, and sensitivity to the complexities and challenges of medical practice that are unique to HonorHealth.
Dr. Neil, a highly regarded interventional radiologist, drives physician engagement throughout HonorHealth, working to ensure that physicians have input and involvement in the decision-making processes of the healthcare system. His work with clinical teams focuses on strategic initiatives, operations, clinical services and the continuum of patient care.
He joined HonorHealth as the senior physician leader in 2015 and he has held leadership roles with the organization's medical staff, Scottsdale Health Partners and the HonorHealth Board of Directors. His professional experience includes serving as the chairman of Southwest Medical Imaging, a large radiology practice that has been active in ambulatory development, practice mergers and joint ventures.
He is board-certified with the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
Dr. Neil holds a bachelor's degree in biochemistry from the University of Kansas and graduated with honors from Washington University School of Medicine.
Julie Arvo MacKenzie is an attorney at Engelman Berger, PC. Before joining the firm, she practiced at national law firms for over 25 years, including as a partner at Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie, where she primarily concentrated in public finance, including bond financings for numerous housing, hospital, education, and economic development projects. Julie then continued her career as in-house counsel for a healthcare conduit issuing authority. She attended the University of Michigan Law School and also received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. Her memberships and board participation include: former chair and current board member for HonorHealth Desert Mission (since 2006); past board member of the Arizona Women Lawyers Association, Maricopa Chapter; member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers; and member of the Arizona Society of Healthcare Attorneys. Julie has served on the HonorHealth Board since 2013. She is rated "AV/Preeminent Attorney" with Martindale-Hubbell.
Kathleen Wade has served on the HonorHealth board since the merger of Scottsdale Healthcare and John C. Lincoln Health Network. Prior to the merger, Kathleen served on the John C. Lincoln Health Network board. She held various positions on that board, including two three year terms as chair and various committee chair positions. Kathleen retired as a regional president of Standard Pacific Homes, a national public homebuilder in 2011. Prior to joining Standard Pacific Homes, Ms. Wade was Co-CEO of Continental Homes, a public homebuilder. She has served on the boards of three public companies and one private company. She currently serves on the board of Lutheran Social Services. In the past she has been a board member and chair of the Homebuilders' Association of Central Arizona, chair of the Arizona Chapter of the March of Dimes, board member of Phoenix Country Day School, and board member and finance chair of New Global Citizens. Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Arizona State University and is a certified public accountant (inactive) in Arizona. She resides in Arizona.
Kathryn Jo Lincoln was elected to the predecessor John C. Lincoln Health Network board in 2010. Currently, she chairs its Investment Committee, to which she was appointed in 2016. As chief investment officer of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, Kathryn is responsible for the management of a $600 million portfolio, guiding strategic allocation, policy development, investment selection process and draw policies, all of which have contributed meaningfully to achieving the current asset base. As chair of the Lincoln Institute board, she plays a crucial role in the strategic direction and planning of the institute, with ongoing involvement in the development of education programs, demonstration projects and impact measurement. Kathryn is also the chair of Claremont Lincoln University, a director at the Lincoln Electric Company, where she chairs the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, and co-chairs the International Center for Land Policy Studies and Training in Taiwan. In recognition of her service in Taiwan, the ROC government awarded Kathryn the Council of Agriculture's Second-Class Agriculture Medal in 2006 and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Friendship Medal of Diplomacy in 2008. Previously, she served as a director of Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua Foundation, Johnson Bank, AZ, the Andrew Young School of Public Policy in Atlanta and the Tesseract School. She is a fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors and a graduate of Hollins University She received her Master of Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. Kim joined then-named Scottsdale Memorial Hospital in 1991 as a staff nurse and has worked her way up through the growing HonorHealth organization to her current position.
She completed her doctorate in nursing practice at Case Western Reserve University, an executive fellowship at the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and an MBA at the University of Phoenix.
Margie Traylor joined the board of HonorHealth in 2010 and is a member of the Quality, Strategic Planning, and Executive Committees. Margie is CEO and co-founder of Audacious Studios, the parent company of Sitewire, Cast and Hue, Tailwind and August United. Prior to founding Audacious Studios, she was an executive at ECadvantage, the e-commerce division of MicroAge, a Fortune 500 Company. Margie started her career as a certified public accountant and auditor at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She is currently an advisory board member for BBVA Compass, and her past board positions include Google's Independent Agency Advisory Board, Women Impacting Public Policy, SCORE, and Arizona Foundation for Women. She graduated with a master's degree in Healthcare Innovation in December 2018 from Arizona State University where she previously received her Bachelor of Science in accounting. She also joined the advisory board of ASU's HEALab in December 2018.
Mike Stanley has served on the board of HonorHealth and its predecessor companies since 2011 and has chaired the Finance Committee since 2014. He brings more than 30 years of board and C-level leadership experience with companies in varied industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, consumer products, technology and management consulting to HonorHealth. Mike is currently managing chair for C12 Greater Phoenix. Prior to this role, he co-founded Medegen, an international medical products manufacturer headquartered in Phoenix. Mike is past Chairman of Positive Coaching Alliance Arizona and served on the Board of SupplierMAC. He also volunteers his time as an executive-in-residence at Arizona State University's WP Carey School of Business. Mike received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Arizona State University and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, where he was named an Arjay Miller Scholar.

Mike Welborn retired as the president of global brand development for P.F. Chang's China Bistro in 2019. Mike had the blind luck to invest in the first P.F. Chang's in Scottsdale in 1993. He joined the company in 2005 and started the global business in 2009, which has grown to over 100 restaurants in 25 countries. Previously, his career was in financial services, including as chairman/CEO of Bank One Arizona and Citibank Arizona, and as a member of the executive leadership team with Bank One (now JPMorgan Chase) in Chicago. Mike has served on the HonorHealth board since 2006 and is currently its board chair. He has also served on the boards of P.F. Chang's, Pei Wei Asian Diner and Peter Piper Pizza. Mike's previous community board chair roles include Greater Phoenix Leadership, Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Valley of the Sun United Way and Arizona YPO and WPO. He also headed the Governor's task force, which led to the development of a new stadium for the Arizona Cardinals. His spouse of 32 years, Patricia, serves on the Arizona State Board of Education and is board chair of a charter school for low-income and minority students. Mike and Pat enjoy active travel, hiking, biking, golf and skiing. The Welborn family has taken 19 bicycle trips around the world. Paul Briggs focuses on HonorHealth finances, which includes financial planning, budgeting, financial risk management and treasury services. His purpose is to ensure HonorHealth has sufficient financial resources to support exceptional patient care and help improve the health and well-being of those served by HonorHealth. In addition to the financial and accounting functions, Paul oversees patient financial services, supply chain, real estate, insurance contracting and construction management.
With more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, Paul has an extensive background in financial and operational leadership roles with hospital systems, health plans and medical groups. Before joining HonorHealth he served as the chief financial officer and chief operating officer for Presbyterian Healthcare Services based in New Mexico. Paul also served in senior financial and operational roles for the Carondelet Health System in St. Louis, MO, the Greenville Hospital System in South Carolina and Group Health Cooperative of Puget Sound in Washington State. He worked in public accounting before finding his home in healthcare.
Paul is a Certified Public Accountant and has served on various business, industry and community boards.
He received his bachelor's degree in accounting and master's degree in accountancy from Brigham Young University.
Pete Hathaway joined the HonorHealth board in 2009 through the John C. Lincoln Health Network. He has served as the Audit and Compliance Committee chair since 2013. He also serves on the Executive and Compensation Committee and the Finance Committee. Pete was a past member of the Information Technology Committee. He retired from JDA Software, Inc. in 2013 where he served as the chief financial officer for four years. Prior to JDA, Pete served for six years as the CFO of Allied Waste Services (now Republic Services). For eight years prior to this, he held a variety of finance and accounting roles. Prior to Allied he also worked in the solid waste industry in Italy for Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc. Pete started his career in 1979 with the public accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co. and served as a certified public accountant in the audit and attest division for 11 years. In addition to HonorHealth, Pete serves on the board of directors of Societal Innovations Holdings, Inc., which designs and develops software for distributed computing and the internet-of-things. He is also an advisory board member of D&L Communications, Inc., which provides compliant displays for the healthcare industry. Pete and his wife enjoy living in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the winter and Telluride, Colorado, in the summer. He is active in the outdoor community in each location, indulging in photography, skiing, backpacking, canyoneering, mountain biking and fly fishing.

Ray Barton joined Great Clips in 1983 as CEO. He led Great Clips from four salons to more than 4,200 salons with annual sales in excess of $1.4 billion. Today, Great Clips is the world's largest salon brand. Ray now serves as chairman of the board for Great Clips, Inc. He has served on the board of HonorHealth since 2012, and became chairman of the Quality Committee in 2017. He is a longtime member of the Young Presidents' Organization, World's Presidents' Organization and past president of the Minnesota Chapter of the World Presidents' Organization. Ray received numerous awards, including the Minnesota Business Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award, the John F. Cade Award and the Minnesota Business Ethics Award. He enjoys outdoor activities. Ray and his wife, Mary Lou, are the parents of three adult children and proud grandparents to seven grandchildren and reside in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Richard Silver, MD, leads HonorHealth's organizational focus on developing an integrated network to improve the health and well-being of the community.
He partners with physicians, community resources and patients to proactively provide and create access to care and services through HonorHealth's hospitals, primary care and specialty care locations, and other services.
Dr. Silver joined the organization in December 2008, serving initially as director of the employed hospitalist program at HonorHealth Scottsdale Thompson Peak Medical Center before being named chief medical officer of Scottsdale Healthcare Medical Group.
He is originally from Philadelphia, where he was the president and founder of Prime Health Network, a 21-physician private practice, and chairman of the board of Renaissance, a physician-owned disease management company in which Prime Health participated.
He was trained at Thomas Jefferson University and is board-certified in internal medicine with added qualifications in geriatrics.

Shannon Fox Fraser, is senior vice president and general counsel for HonorHealth, where she has served as an in-house attorney since 2015. Shannon also serves as secretary of the HonorHealth Board of Directors.
In her role, Shannon oversees the full range of legal and business issues facing an integrated healthcare system, including corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, strategic initiatives, risk management, and labor and employment. She also oversees issues related to the medical staff, managed care, privacy and compliance, corporate transactions, contracting, intellectual property, litigation, and regulatory and accreditation matters.
Before joining HonorHealth, Shannon worked for more than 15 years in the Chicago area as in-house counsel at Edward Health Services Corp. She also worked at Edward-Elmhurst Health, where she served in legal and compliance-related capacities, including chief privacy officer.
She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Arizona Society of Healthcare Attorneys.
Shannon received her joint juris doctorate and master's in business administration degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law - Illinois Institute of Technology, and her bachelor's degree from Illinois State University.

An accomplished physician and leader, Stephanie Jackson, MD, FHM, focuses on patient safety and quality to ensure the best care is delivered to every patient, every time at HonorHealth. She leads a team of chief medical officers as well as patient safety, infection prevention, regulatory and quality professionals and the clinical analytics division.
Dr. Jackson joined HonorHealth in 2015. Her prior leadership experience includes serving as the system patient safety officer at PeaceHealth, a not-for-profit Catholic health system with operations in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. There, she led efforts to eliminate healthcare-associated harm with a focus on quality and process improvement, analytics and infection prevention.
Dr. Jackson has more than 20 years of clinical experience, including serving as the lead hospitalist for the Oregon Medical Group, a multi-specialty, physician-owned group with more than 100 providers and 13 locations in Eugene, Oregon. Before becoming a hospitalist, Dr. Jackson was an internist with a focus on diabetes care in Billings, Montana.
Dr. Jackson graduated with a bachelor's degree in cell biology/biochemistry from Cornell University and earned her MD from Washington University School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine.
Steve Wheeler joined the HonorHealth board in 2008 through Scottsdale Healthcare and served as board chair for eight years from 2011-2018. He retired as an executive vice president of Arizona Public Service Company in 2010. Prior to joining APS, Steve was a managing partner of the 450-attorney southwestern law firm of Snell & Wilmer. He currently serves as a director of HonorHealth and is also a director and vice chairman of the Flinn Foundation, director of the Helios Education Foundation, director of Great Hearts America, and a director of New Learning Ventures. He was previously chairman of the Valley of the Sun United Way, chairman of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Fiesta Bowl, president of the Arizona Theatre Company, chairman of the Commission on the Arizona Environment, chairman of the Arizona Board of Legal Specialization, and vice chairman of the Phoenix Art Museum. Through gubernatorial appointment, he has also been involved in state initiatives on childhood education, transportation, and the environment. With more than 35 years of diverse healthcare experience, Todd LaPorte leads an integrated health system with six acute-care hospitals, numerous outpatient facilities, a research institute, and various community services impacting social determinants of health and military preparedness.
Todd is the current board chair for the Health System Alliance of Arizona, an association of the five largest healthcare systems throughout the State. He is a member of Greater Phoenix Leadership (a CEO advocacy group) and is a board member of Experience Scottsdale (a visitor's bureau). He speaks frequently to Arizona State University MBA classes and community service organizations throughout the Valley of the Sun.
Todd has served as board chair for a chapter of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the nationally acclaimed Scottsdale Aquatic Club and the Paradise Valley School District's supporting Foundation for Public Education.

Wayne Frangesch leads talent acquisition, retention, employee development, benefits/compensation, employee relations and people strategy for HonorHealth employees and physicians.
His focus is to attract, engage and keep a talented workforce to provide the best patient care and support of patient care. Wayne has more than 20 years of human resources experience in the healthcare industry, including UW Health and Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, both based in the state of Wisconsin. His experiences have focused on aligning the HR strategies and priorities with the operational needs of the organization through continuous focus on strategic planning, staff and leadership development, labor productivity and efficiency, and process improvement.
Wayne holds a bachelor's degree in business administration in human resources and labor economics, and a master's degree in economics, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
