Ian became a film funder for the Northern Production Fund co-financing a number of award winning films by directors such as Duane Hopkins and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones). During this time he set up development and production schemes with Channel 4 and the BBC and exec-produced a drama series with ITV Tyne Tees (winning two regional Royal Television Society Awards). He returned to filmmaking with the award winning short 'The Shoe Tree' shot in Estonia as part of a film challenge. Ian directed five short films for BBC Religion, three of which he devised with the writer Margaret Wilkinson called 'The Tramps Parables'. He subsequently developed his skills in longer form film with the Creative Partnerships dramas 'Exodus 20', 'Stranger Than Kindness' (shot in Estonia and premiered at Montecarlo) and 'Damage'. Other films followed, including the UK Film Council backed short 'Keel' which premiered as part of the Best British Shorts at Edinburgh Film Festival and was featured..
