Angela Whitehead

Angela started in what was then industrial nursing in Glasgow in 1974, with a clothing company which had shops, factories, distribution network and a busy head office. She has worked in different types of operations from heavy industry, modern technology, public sector, NHS, HSE and finally oil and gas. This was interspersed with spells in general practice and district. During that time she acquired a husband and two sons and moved from Scotland to Wales and finally England. Along the way she completed many different levels of training culminating in an MSc in Health & Safety. She has enjoyed a long and happy career in a specialism she loves and continues to work on an ad hoc basis. Angela is an original member of the association.

Clare Henson-Bowen

Clare qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2005 and quickly fell in love with musculoskeletal rehabilitation and occupational health and wellbeing (OH&W). She has over 15 years of experience in delivering occupational health physiotherapy and workplace assessments in both the public and private sectors. She has also completed post-graduate training in Occupational Health via ACPOHE and an MSc in Occupational Health (Policy and Practice) in 2014. Clare is the owner of Bespoke Wellbeing, which is a national provider of Occupational Health Physiotherapy, Workplace Assessments, and Functional Capacity Evaluations. Her work in the field of Occupational Health has also been recognised in several awards and programmes, such as; ‘Best Musculoskeletal Initiative' in the Occupational Health and Well-being Awards 2020, Natwest Accelerator Programme - "Scaling up Occupational Health Physiotherapy across the UK", Great British Entrepreneur Awards (GBEA) 2019, and the Zenith Global Health Award (Allied Health Professional) 2019.

It is both an honour and privilege to have been invited to join IOH as the Director of student affairs. Having just completed my studies as a SCPHN OH at Derby University I know only too well the challenges faced as a student. I have been a perpetual student now for many years but must say undertaking my SCPHN studies throughout a global pandemic was the biggest achievement and challenge to date.

Janet O'Neill

Janet trained in South Africa as a general nurse with extra time for good behaviour undertaken doing Midwifery and Psychiatry. Following a move to Swaziland, she moved into Occupational Health as a factory nurse which was a role she thoroughly enjoyed, but very different to the OH we do today. For the last 17 years she has worked in the private OH sector working with a variety of different clients. This has given her a broad understanding of organisations and their OH needs Janet has worked for PAM for 14 years, starting as a Screening Nurse and she is now a Clinical Nurse Director. She expresses passion for clinical governance and training, which allows her to be very nosy, getting involved with most development projects from a clinical aspect. She also follows people as they join and develop in PAM. She is passionate about training to enable people to grow in the profession in this exciting profession. She is looking forward to learning a lot from her board peers but also contributing to the growth of others in the multidisciplinary world of OH.

Libby Morley - VP

Libby Morley is an Independent Occupational Health Practitioner, Workplace Wellbeing Specialist and experienced trainer in Stress & Mental Health-related topics. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse at Nottingham University Hospital in 1991 and now combines her working knowledge of HR and H&S with evidence-based mental health-related training across many business sectors. She is the owner of Mindshift Consultancy and an Associate Trainer for Mental Health First Aid England, the Princes Trust and Homeless Link. Libby is also a member of the Society of Occupational Medicine and the Royal Society for Public Health. Libby is passionate about reducing the negative stigmatising attitudes that remain around mental ill-health and a firm believer in workplaces providing a proactive and supportive culture around this subject.

Lucy Kenyon - President

Lucy Kenyon is a Specialist OH Nurse Consultant who has been teaching and mentoring Occupational Health since 1996 for the RCN, Universities of Birmingham, Coventry, Derby and West of Scotland. She delivers professional development courses for the National Performance Advisory Group, Cordell Health and employers, for whom she researches and develops evidence-based practice. She has been a member of the iOH board since 2014 and became VP before accepting the role of President in 2017 till 2020. She has been a Non-Executive Director since 2021. Lucy is an independent OH practitioner and is primarily involved in delivering OH services to small and medium sized companies. She has a special interest in applying modern technologies to improve employment health, safety and wellbeing outcomes. She has a background in delivering Corporate and Public Health programmes, including involvement in pandemic planning, with a Master of Medical Science and International Certificate in Occupational Hygiene from Birmingham, where she has taught and worked on research projects. She has written Special Reports for Croner Publication, reviewed and updated Chapter 10 of the professional textbook Contemporary Occupational Health Nursing and is a cited author of peer-reviewed articles. Lucy is a keen singer and musician and has served as a school governor, community charity trustee and volunteer for local youth, fostering and neuro-diversity groups.

Lynda Bruce

Lynda is a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (OH) and Fellow of Royal Society of Public Health and Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She also lectures on the Occupational Health course at Robert Gordon University. She volunteers her time to help support members through the iOH Support Line.

Lynn Pratt - President

Lynn has been a volunteer with iOH since 2016. She studied for her OH Nursing degree at Robert Gordon University and holds a Diploma in Management and is currently studying for an MSc in Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Hull. She has worked in a variety of settings including the airline, pharmaceutical, retail, oil, and manufacturing industries. She has worked extensively as an OH Advisor and has been managing OH services for the last 13 years. As Editor of OH Today the iOH e-journal, she is passionate about sharing professional knowledge and is keen to discuss news stories, articles or research studies which may be suitable for publication with members and non-members.

Tim Ellis - CCO

Tim qualified as a nurse in Nottingham in 1995. After a number of years in A&E, the Prison Service and ‘out of hours' GP triage, it was whilst working for an agency he describes that he ‘fell into' Occupational Health by doing a few shifts in a factory medical centre. That was over 20 years ago and he has since worked across many varied organisations; industry/ manufacturing; defence contractors; Higher Education; Warehousing and logistics, Power/ Utilities. He also completed his Post graduate SCPHN OH course at the University of Surrey. Currently he is the UK OH manager for a global manufacturing company. As well as the line management of the clinical team his main focus is on the continuous improvement of SEQOHS standards for the service. Outside of work, he is a proud father of two. He has found a passion for running in more recent years and so far this has culminated in him completing the London Marathon in October 2021. He also trains in martial arts and is working towards his black belt in ITF TaeKwon-Do. Furthermore, he is passionate about providing defibrillators in his local community; he has actively fundraised for, and installed, several defibs. He maintains the social media platforms for his local community responder groups.
