Located in the southwestern region of Louisiana, Allen Parish is home to more than 25,000 residents and was founded in 1912. The parish is named for former Louisiana governor and Confederate General Henry Watkins Allen. The city of Oberlin, the parish seat, is the oldest settlement in Allen Parish and is named after the hometown of the city's original settlers: Oberlin, Ohio. The parish is known for its beautiful canoeing locations, which includes the Calcasieu River and a section of the 86-mile-long Ouiska "Whiskey" Chitto River. Beauregard Parish is home to over 36,000 residents and is located in Western Louisiana on the Texas/Louisiana border, directly adjacent to Newton County, Texas. Beauregard Parish was formed from the northern part of present-day Calcasieu Parish in 1912 and is named after Confederate General P.G.T. Caldwell Parish was originally part of Catahoula Parish and Ouachita Parish, but in 1838, the area was formally established as an independent parish. The parish is named after a prestigious local family at the time of establishment: the Caldwells. The parish seat is located in the city of Columbia. The Louisiana Art and Folk Festival, which often attracts over 10,000 guests, is held annually in the second week of October in Caldwell Parish. Dr. Harry Winter's Nature Preserve, home to over 100 different species of birds, is also located within the parish boundaries.
Sharing its northern border with Arkansas, Claiborne Parish is located in North Louisiana and has a population of nearly 17,000 residents. The parish was formed in 1808 from part of present-day Natchitoches Parish and is named after Louisiana's very first governor, William Charles Cole Claiborne. The parish was originally much larger, extending over 60 miles south of the Red River, before the land was broken up to create neighbor parishes, including Bienville Parish, Lincoln Parish, and Webster Parish. The parish seat and the largest city is located in Homer, which is named for the famed Greek poet and author of The Odyssey. Part of Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana's only national forest, is located in Claiborne Parish. Much of the history of Claiborne parish is preserved in the Herbert S. Ford Memorial Museum, located in Homer, Louisiana.

Grant and was founded in 1869. The parish seat is located in the city of Colfax, which is named after President Grant's first vice president, Schuyler M. Colfax and is the largest city in the parish. Grant Parish is home to part of the Kisatchie National Forest, Louisiana's only national forest. The Louisiana Pecan Festival is a three-day event that occurs annually every November in the parish, drawing many tourists in neighboring areas to downtown Colfax to take part in the festivities. Grant Parish is neighbors with Natchitoches Parish to the west, La Salle Parish to the east, Winn Parish to the North and Rapides Parish to the south.
