Wilmot Orchard

Banked by the rolling hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine, and overlooking the waters of Lake Ontario, Wilmot Orchard is situated just a few kilometres north of the 401, between Bowmanville and Newcastle. Standing here, breathing in the fresh air, and looking at the green vistas...it's like standing in a painting! In 1976, after graduating from the University of Guelph, Charles purchased the farm and gave it the name Wilmot Orchards. Wilmot Creek, which flows directly through the farm, was named after one of Newcastle's founding fathers, Samuel Wilmot. In 1979, Charles was ready for a new challenge and planted his first Highbush Blueberries. Within a few years, by 1983, the public was welcome to come to the farm to pick their own berries. As the demand for pick your own grew, so did the blueberry patch which is now covering more than twenty acres of land! Today, Wilmot Orchard continues as a family business, operated and owned by Charles and Judi with the help of their daughter, Courtney.
