At Kura Kai we strive to encourage manaakitanga (generosity and care for others) with a simple kaupapa (purpose) of "whānau cooking for whānau"... Since having Kura Kai at our college, we have noticed that the connections that we can build with whanau have been that much better. We have the resource on hand to directly help whanau who are struggling with the range of bills and expenses that they have. Our team who connects with our community are contacted discretely to support certain whanau and students, and they approach each situation with a skilled social nuance that not only supports but uplifts each whanau. This is an awesome initiative that we see the benefit of daily through students who know that we care as a college, through students that have a more nutritious and stable dinner and through students who have a grateful attitude for the generosity of others to support them."...
