Genna Shaw

Job Titles:
  • Member of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
  • Communications / Journal Editor
I am Genna, a Doula, HypnoBirthing practitioner, photographer, creator of Not Another Childbirth Class and the Indigenous Birth Collective. I am most passionate about changing the way birthing people approach their birth and postpartum and how they utilise the maternity system here in Australia and am always thinking of ways to help birthing people get optimum outcomes so that they are set up for their journey in parenthood. I believe there is much work to be done towards changing our maternity system for the better and I feel really excited about the playing an integral part of Maternity Choices Australia spearheading the projects to help birthing people reach their birth goals and leave their birth not traumatised.

Peta Tuck - President

Job Titles:
  • Member of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
  • President
  • National President
I am Peta, a Brisbane Mum of 4, a birth Doula turned birth preparation coach, founder of the BetterBirth Program and I am extremely passionate about women's rights and choices for the pregnancy and birth. Like many Australian Women, I too have suffered from birth trauma at the hands of a system that just isn't set up to support women. After then experiencing 3 polar opposite birth experiences, I have made it my missions to ensure all women have choice in their maternity care and do not suffer from birth trauma. I am thrilled (and a little nervous!) to have taken on the National Presidency role working along side the most amazing maternity consumer advocates. This next 12 months will see some big projects which i know will help to see change in our maternity system but we need your help....

Renee-Kay Tennant - Treasurer

Job Titles:
  • Member of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
  • Treasurer
I have been in the position of Treasurer for MCA since November 2019. I am a CPA and certified bookkeeper (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) though I am home full-time with the kids (3 & 5) for the last 5 years. Both my children were delivered safely at home with just me and my husband present, and I am passionate for home births to be publicly funded (as my 1st birth in the UK was) and more birthing centres being available for women in QLD.

Sally Cusack

Job Titles:
  • Member of the EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
  • Secretary
Sally is the mother of two teens, is based in Northern NSW and has been a passionate advocate for women's choices in birth since her experience of continuity of midwifery led care in the home 14 years ago. Sally has been a member of Maternity Coalition (as MCA was known then) since 2009 and advocated for better maternity choices in her region since then. In 2010 with a group of local women she founded the Pregnancy Birth and Beyond Radio show, which broadcast weekly for 10 years from BayFM, Byron Bay, her local community radio station. In 2015 the radio show became PBB Media, which was founded with former MCA President Annalee Atia, and another dear friend Lara Martin. The team has grown and changed over the years since then, still producing content for parents to keep them informed of their choices.
