Jeffrey Hall

Hall is an NRA Distinguished Master, and one of twenty-five Handgun Combat Masters in the world. He holds black belt ranks in five martial arts, ranking from 3rd to 10 th dan. He is the founder, or "soke", of Hojutsu-Ryu, the martial art of shooting. Hall holds a fourth dan in Shudo-Kan karate, third dan each in Iae Tate Do, Jujitsu and Kobudo-jitsu, and is currently studying Iaido and Arnis. Hall has been inducted into the Universal, Masters, and U.S. Martial Arts Halls of Fame. One of his primary interests is Integrated Fighting, the blending of hands, feet, sticks, knives, and all firearms into a blended, integrated fighting system. Hall has developed and taught a course in the use of the defensive knife for police officers. Hall has used all of the techniques and tactics he teaches in real-world confrontations. Hall is currently an NRA adjunct staff instructor, and teaches for the Alaska, Idaho, and Washington state P.O.S.T. commissions. He is the author of numerous articles in Tactical Weapons, SWAT, Guns and Weapons for Law Enforcement, Police Marksman, and others. He is the author of two books, soon to be published by Paladin Press. He has a small training and consulting business. He is a firm believer that the only path to success is hard, repetitive, disciplined training under the eyes of masters in any particular field, and that there are no shortcuts!

Kathie Ferguson-Avery

Kathie brings nearly three decades of multi-sector experience in organizational development, training, and performance systems management. Currently serving as Southwest Area Manager and Tribal Liaison for the Corporation for National and Community Service (an independent federal agency), she manages 26 staff in nine states, with an ongoing budget of more than $50 million. In 2005, she agreed to serve temporarily in Washington, DC for nine months as the Acting Director of AmeriCorps*VISTA, and was responsible for implementing this national $98 million dollar program. Kathie's 29 years of experience in training, organizational development and strategic planning includes 13 years in the private sector, three years in state government, and 13 years in the Federal government. She is also the owner of Northstar Performance Systems, LLC, and has successfully managed her own training/evaluation consulting business since 1986. Kathie began shooting in 2001, and has earned many awards including eight-time Colorado State Practical Shooting Ladies' Champion, five-time Mile-High Showdown Top Lady, five-time Eastern Colorado Section Top Lady, four-time NM Sectional Top Lady Limited Division, and 8th Lady Overall Limited Division 2008 USPSA National Championships. In addition to competing, Kathie is a certified Advanced Handgun Skills instructor of the Practical Shooting Academy, and has co-taught courses with Ron to Secret Service view, law enforcement firearms trainers and officers, and civilian clients. She is also an NRA certified handgun, home firearms safety and personal protection instructor. Her specialized work with PSA clients also includes organizational change management, instructor development, curriculum development, and managing and sustaining effective programs.

Mr. Brian Searcy

TigerSwan's President, COO, and co-founder, Mr. Brian Searcy, has grown TSI from a two person, home office small business, to a 460 person multi-cultural corporation with offices throughout the world in less than four years. Mr. Searcy served 23 years in Army Special Operations and spent the last 16 years with Delta Force. His leadership experience included serving as a military advisor in Central and South America and as the Command Sergeant Major for a 1,700 person Joint Special Operations Task Force in Iraq. A decorated combat leader his awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star As a Delta Force instructor, Mr. Searcy authored and taught classes in assault planning, VIP protection, rifle and pistol marksmanship, explosive and mechanical breaching, close quarters battle and hand to hand. He also served as the program manager and primary instructor for Delta's shooting program. As a civilian consultant to the Pentagon's Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Defeat Task Force, Mr. Searcy worked in Iraq and the United States training soldiers and marines to predict, detect and mitigate the threat of IEDs. In addition to receiving a Bachelor's degree in Government from Campbell University, Mr. Searcy earned a Master's degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. Additionally he has completed an executive leadership program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and Harvard Business School's Finance for Senior Executives.

Ron Avery - President

Ron is currently President and Director of Training for The Practical Shooting Academy, Inc. Starting at the age of 5, Ron began his firearms training with his father and has been shooting in one form or another since then. He has extensive personal experience with firearms as well as studying firearms related topics for most of his life. Ron is a former law enforcement officer with many years of street experience and he brings that experience into the training environment. Ron has worked as a Deputy Sheriff and Police Officer in both rural and municipal settings as well as backcountry law enforcement in the extreme arctic wilderness of Alaska and the rugged mountains and plains of Colorado. In addition to his law enforcement duties, Ron has served in the following capacities: Program Director - Firearms and Tactical Training Firearms & Tactics Program Design Lead Firearms & Tactics Trainer and Consultant Primary Designated Marksman Firearms Expert Witness During his law enforcement career, Ron attended various firearms and defensive tactics training courses to include the NRA Law Enforcement Instructor course, where he was top student as well as Gunsite Academy 250 and 499 courses and Thunder Ranch. Ron has also attended Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) training and has gone through extensive tactical firearms and officer survival training, defensive tactics instructor and other courses during his career. Ron is an adjunct instructor for the SIG SAUER Academy and teaches various firearms and tactics courses for them. Ron is an avid hunter and outdoorsman and enjoys outdoor survival, hiking, backpacking, nature study and pretty much any activity that takes him into the backcountry. He is a lifelong martial artist and has participated in a wide variety of martial arts and defensive tactics training during his career as an officer and professional trainer.
