Dave Johnson - Treasurer

Dave serves as Vice President at Hoffman Construction Company of Washington. Dave has spent his entire career with Hoffman after receiving his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Washington. He oversees much of Hoffman's public work in the Seattle area and among his other duties, he is responsible for insuring Hoffman's culture of safety is communicated and implemented on all of their projects in Washington.

Jamie Stuart

Jamie is the Vice President of Safety/Labor Coordination at Valley Electric. He earned his Bachelors in Occupational Safety and Health from Central Washington University. He has been working as a safety professional in the electrical industry for over 20 years. The majority of his time has been spent at Valley Electric. Jamie brings a unique perspective in Safety from his experience advocating for contractors and workers while he was Safety Director with the Puget Sound Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

Jason Oliver

Jason Oliver is the Executive Director of SafeBuild Alliance. For two decades he has worked as a business & marketing leader in areas including general contracting, trade contracting and national manufacturing & distribution. Jason has held memberships and affiliations with the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), the American Institute of Architects PDC board, local chambers of commerce and economic development organizations. Jason is passionate about advancing safety culture and achieving SafeBuild's aspirational vision of zero incidents through collaboration. In addition to his role with SafeBuild Alliance of Washington, Jason is also Executive Director of SafeBuild Alliance of Oregon and the Construction Industry Crime Prevention Program (CICP). He holds a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University.

Mark Jonson - President

In more than two decades with McKinstry, Mark has been responsible for a variety of activities including the delivery of design/build construction and energy services performance contracting projects for clients. His experience spans the spectrum of project delivery and includes estimating and financial analysis, conceptual design, audits and project development, pre-construction coordination, project management, commissioning, and performance assurance. In Mark's current role, he focuses on leading teams that deliver exceptional results for customers. He helps guide our teams to ensure they clearly understand clients' needs and then create solutions around those needs.

Matt Armstrong

Matt joined the Carpenters Union in 2014 via the Helmets to Hardhats Program. As an apprentice, Matt worked for multiple construction companies, but has been full time with Sellen Construction since early 2015. In his apprentice years, he performed a variety of types of carpentry work including one sided walls, columns and decks, elevator cores, interior finishing, and on dedicated safety teams. Throughout his career Matt has worked on high rises, landmark structures, and in hospital construction settings. He has been involved in both new construction and sustaining works. In 2019 he was promoted by Sellen Construction to a foreman position that lead carpenter crews and safety crews. In this post he developed a passion for establishing and enacting protocol that ensures safer projects for all involved. Early in 2022, Sellen Construction promoted him to a Safety Manager role. He is currently responsible for developing safety programs and initiatives that highlight the industry standard in safety and put focus on training and building safer teams within the company. Matt is excited to work within the SafeBuild Alliance Board to help achieve safer environments.

Mindy Uber

Mindy has worked in the Environmental, Health, and Safety department at Skanska USA Building for over eleven years. She is currently the EHS Director, responsible for implementing and managing Skanska's EHS programs for all Seattle-based projects. She has a BS in Environmental Science from Western Washington University and a MA in Environment and Community from Antioch University. Her passions outside of work include traveling, hiking, camping, and soaking up the Seattle sun whenever possible.

Rayce Whitson

Rayce earned his Bachelors in Science Degree in Construction Management from Central Washington University, and has enjoyed over 8 years of commercial construction experience. Rayce is currently a Project Manager for ATG and has helped lead the Seattle group with total project management by controlling budgets, negotiating subcontracts, safety management, estimation, and providing day-to-day communication with the project team. Rayce also has served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves for over 14 years, with a deployment to Afghanistan in 2011. Outside of work, Rayce enjoys spending his time with his family, staying active in the gym, and getting outdoors in the great Pacific Northwest.

Ryan Kessler - VP

Ryan started his career with Andersen Construction in 2007 after receiving a Construction Engineering Degree from Oregon State University. His career has been primarily focused in Healthcare throughout the Seattle area. As Washington Region Operations Manager, Ryan now oversees all Andersen Projects in Washington and works closely with Teams to ensure that Andersen's Safety Culture is a cornerstone in every project.

Steve Tatge

Steve Tatge is an architect and the interim Associate Vice President for Asset Management for the University of Washington's Facilities organization. He is responsible for the Project Delivery Group, Campus Architecture and Planning, the UW Sustainability Office, and Engineering Services, and works closely with other Facilities units and the University's central administration around the planning, delivery, and lifecycle management of the University's physical assets. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Project Delivery Group (PDG) and was responsible for a portfolio which often approached a billion dollars and included projects such as the recently completed $230M Hans Rosling Center for Population Health, the $80M Interdisciplinary Engineering Building, and the $224.5M Behavioral Health Teaching Facility. Prior to joining the University in 2004, Steve directed the quality control program for Walsh Construction's Seattle office and managed capital projects for a Seattle biotechnology firm. He was the Senior Associate for the Miller/Hull Partnership and managed several AIA award-winning projects during his 11 years there. Steve attended the UW Masters of Architecture program and has a B.A. in Psychology from Knox College. He is the recent past President of the Western Washington Chapter of the Design-Build Institute of America Northwest Region.
