ANDERSON - Key Persons

Brad Robb

Job Titles:
  • Executive Director
Through his and the Board's leadership, the Foundation increased its annual grantmaking and implemented various capacity building initiatives for grant partners, including major gift fundraising, executive leadership skills, storytelling and evaluation and outcomes. Prior to joining the Foundation, Brad held multiple management positions at Bank of America over a 28-year career nationally and regionally, including a focus on wealth management and private foundation development.

Carl C. Anderson III - Chairman

Job Titles:
  • Chairman of the Board
  • Member of the Foundation Board of Trustees
Carl Anderson's story is a classic "rags to riches" journey: he was born into a poor family in Naples, Oklahoma in 1911. One of 10 children, he dropped out of high school to earn money and help support his family. He launched his transportation business with one truck hauling and laying pipeline. From those modest beginnings, the Anderson Corporation grew domestically across the country and internationally in Canada and South America. Carl and Marie Jo Baker met through his business dealings. They married, had children and moved the family and business operations to New Mexico, and for a time in Arizona as well, to expand the business into uranium exploration and mining. Real estate, farming and commercial cattle ranching rounded out Carl and Marie Jo's business and personal interests. Marie Jo was small, but mighty. She created and managed a business breeding Arabian horses, was an expert gardener and a prolific orchid grower. Her strength, vision and compassion helped lay the groundwork for the Foundation. Carl and Marie Jo had two daughters: Jennifer Jo Anderson Bird and Carroll Jane Anderson. By a prior marriage, Carl had two sons, Maxie Anderson and Carl Clay Anderson, Jr.

Cate Sitton

Job Titles:
  • Grant Manager for Seniors, Disability and Food Programs
  • Grant Manager of the Foundation
Cate is the Grant Manager of the Foundation's grants for older adults, adults with disabilities, and food programs. She began working with Carl and Marie Jo in 1994 as a bookkeeper, helping them manage their assets and real estate holdings. Following the Andersons' passing, she played an instrumental role in establishing the operating systems for the Foundation. Cate takes pride in eliminating barriers between the Foundation and her grant partners, believing that our relationships are true partnerships. "I am incredibly grateful to be partnering with our grantees who are dedicated to making the world a better place for everyone."

Justin Ito

Job Titles:
  • Grant Manager for Children and Youth Programs
Justin believes that there are more resources in this world than there is need, and what bridges the gap between the two of them is creative, compassionate people - many of whom are his grantees. His unofficial title is "Grantee Advocate," and his favorite part about his job is meeting with grantees, learning about their impact, and subsequently going to bat on their behalf to get them funding to continue their work.

Karen L. Kahan

Job Titles:
  • Chief
  • Program Officer
Karen helps shepherd the foundation's grantmaking and capacity building initiatives. Her life-long career and volunteer work in the nonprofit sector have included different leadership roles in communications, fundraising, fundraising administration and volunteer management. As a proud English literature major, Karen has written her fair share of grants and appreciates the art of writing. As expected, she made several edits to this bio (which she wrote).
