Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is a Hungarian public research university based in Budapest. Founded in 1635, ELTE is one of the largest and the most prestigious university of Hungarian higher education. It was named Royal University of Pest until 1873, then University of Budapest until 1921, when it was renamed Pázmány Péter University after its founder Péter..
