Janine Lewis

Job Titles:
  • Registered Nurse
  • Clinic Owner / Aesthetics Nurse
I started out my career as a dental nurse and in the early years found myself working in a forward thinking dental practice who performed cosmetic treatments. This is where my interest in aesthetics first began. I later wanted to develop my skills further and broaden my horizons so I began my training as an adult nurse. I qualified in March 2013 with a first class honours degree in adult nursing. I began working full time in the intensive care department in 2013 and am currently still there on the nursing bank on a (very!) part time basis. I'm married with four children and my husband is a successful tattoo artist in Shrewsbury town centre. It was his suggestion that I attend a training course on laser aesthetics and as I already had an interest in the industry , I thought why not? In September 2016 I completed an Advanced Laser Aesthetics certificate with a Manchester University accredited course. As a nurse I was particularly keen to enter this profession with a good and safe basis of knowledge and I already had a good understanding of skin anatomy, wound healing and medications. In June 2017, I joined the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses, with their support I'm looking forward to completing some more courses in the future and help more people overcome their insecurities. In September 2017 I decided I was going to take my idea one step further and open a specialised Aesthetics Clinic and bring in other qualified people who already have their own business to help me achieve my goal of owning a clinic where people can come and have their cosmetic needs met. In November 2017 I completed the training for toxin and dermal filler placement and am currently undergoing the renowned Level 7 certificate with Harley Academy. A level 7 is either a postgraduate degree from a university or a vocational Level 7 qualification achieved at an accredited training centre. Harley's Level 7 is an Ofqual regulated qualification, which means it has been rigorously reviewed for it's content and academic stature. It is on the same academic level as a Masters Degree, which gives me a comprehensive basis of knowledge to be able to perform these treatments safely and effectively. In 2018 I have completed many extra courses including superficial dermal filler placement with Merz Aesthetics and a complications management workshop with the renowned Plastic Surgeon Dr Dalvi Humzah, this is to ensure client safety s at the forefront of everything we do. I am a member of ACE Group, which supports practitioners with complications should they occur. I also regularly meet with other Aesthetic Nurses and Doctors for peer support and revalidation purposes.
