Raheem Veal is the Founder & CEO of RazorPen Consulting which provides production, professional development, and marketing services through storytelling. The company provides production and directing services for Newark Symphony Hall's HOMEGROWN: A series celebrating exceptional talents born and bred in Newark, NJ. The company also spearheaded production for the launch campaign of the highly successful LaRueList Café podcast, which holds passionate conversations with powerful and unique guests. Raheem brings a wealth of experience to his consultancy from working with brands such as ViacomCBS, Nickelodeon, Combs Enterprise, ESPN, and The Wharton School of Business. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Raheem began his journey at ViacomCBS in the inaugural cohort of the company's two-year RISE Marketing and Ad Sales rotational fellowship. In the highly competitive, rigorous program, he worked across the company's Partner Solutions functions including Marketing and Partner Insights, Integrated Marketing, Linear Ad Sales, Pricing and Media Planning, and Advanced Advertising (Data Solutions). The program also included an ongoing educational and professional growth regimen that consisted of workshops with top executives as well as thought leadership seminars. Upon graduating from the fellowship in July, Raheem began his new role at ViacomCBS working in Integrated Marketing on the Activation Team, specializing in Nickelodeon content. There he project manages the production, distribution, and post-campaign reporting of linear, digital, social, and experiential commercials as well as sponsorship campaigns. He was fortunate enough to serve as Membership Engagement Chair of The BEAT+: ViacomCBS's Black Employee Resource Group for one year. Raheem's internship experiences during college set him on his current path in media and entertainment. In the summer of 2016, he worked in Marketing and Communications at Diddy's Combs Enterprises for the REVOLT TV & Media brand. At this company, he contributed to a successful rollout of the REVOLT Music Conference's marketing and media promotional campaign. He also regularly wrote press releases and created marketing materials to be distributed to the company's key partners. At Combs Enterprise, he even had the opportunity to co-write keynote speeches and presentations for the then CEO of REVOLT TV, Keith Clinkscales. A tenacious worker, Raheem gained valuable marketing experience working at organizations such as The Wharton School of Business: External Affairs, the Wharton Future of Advertising Program, and Makuu: The Black Cultural Center on campus. With The Wharton School, he wrote speeches and remarks for the Dean of the MBA Program in addition to his daily responsibilities. During his senior fall, Raheem was invited to participate in thought leadership group The Marcus Graham Project‘s exclusive marketing workshop to work on a competitive pitch case for ESPN. To feed his passions, Raheem has also freelance written music, culture, and social justice pieces for the last five years. His work has been published by top black media organizations such as Blavity and REVOLT. Raheem recently began publishing his own music and culture blog THE OLD BLACK SOUL and producing his video podcast BLACK SOUL MEDIA to highlight the stories of black and brown creatives.
