Wellcome provided £100,000 to build Wellcome Institute for Research on Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Cattle in Nairobi, Kenya... We were founded in 1936 after the death of Sir Henry Wellcome, a pharmaceutical entrepreneur, with a pioneering approach to drug design... We are accountable to society for delivering our aims, while using our political independence for public benefit. Our Board of Governors guides and oversees Wellcome in achieving our mission to improve health for everyone.
