David Ritch

David Ritch studied Urban Planning at the University of Cincinnati before receiving his BS in Industrial Design.

Jane Kobayashi

Jane Kobayashi art directs all graphic communications projects for the studio. Kobayashi graduated cum laude from UCLA with a BA in Design and with distinction from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena with a BFA in Graphic Design and Packaging. She has 24 years of design experience, 17 of them with 5D. Kobayashi has won numerous design awards and was nominated for inclusion in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum exhibition on annual report design. She has taught at Art Center College of Design and Art Center's Saturday High Program.

Maggie van Oppen

Maggie van Oppen has a BA in Art from California State University Long Beach and a BFA in Communication Arts from Otis Parsons in Los Angeles. She has 18 years of design experience including 10 years at Kim Baer Design Associates. van Oppen is a senior creative director, has won numerous design awards, and handles many of 2D's accounts.

Mark Saffell

Mark Saffell attended at Ringling College of Art and Design, where he received a BFA in Interior Architecture. David and Mark worked together at Donald Chadwick's studio for nearly a decade, involved in various furniture projects including the Herman Miller Aeron Chair. In 1995, Ritch and Saffell left Donald Chadwick to form the 3D portion of 5d studio.
