Amy graduated from the University of Bristol in July 2016. Originally, Amy worked in mixed practice but has discovered her passion for small animal internal medicine and dermatology. She was awarded the Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in December 2019 and a Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies in July 2021. She has always lived in the local area and in her spare time she loves doing pilates, walking with her dogs and travelling.

Clare qualified as a registered veterinary nurse in 2001 and joined the practice in 2014 after taking a career break to raise her family. Clare enjoys spending time with her family, her mad Labrador cross ‘Obi' and ‘Bart' her chilled out cat.

Gemma joined the practice in 2017 having previously worked at a pet shop. Along with gaining animal experience by volunteering at Secret World, Gemma has completed her BTEC Level 3 extended Diploma in Animal Management. She used to be found on the reception desk, but now fulfills administrative duties within the practice.
Gemma has three guinea pigs and two cats who she loves dearly.

Jade joined Blakes back in 2011 and is now a senior nurse, who enjoys all aspects of the job. She has a keen interest in laboratory work and loves that no 2 days are ever the same in practice. Outside of work Jade can usually be found walking on our south west coast line or The Quantock hills with her Staffordshire bull terrier shaped shadow, Rigel. She also owns a ball python but doesn't take him out walking!

Jordan is one of our Veterinary Care Assistants and is looking forward to progressing further and study veterinary nursing. She has always wanted to work with animals for as long as she can remember and is very passionate about her work.
Jordan has a Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross Old Thyme Bulldog called Marley who she rescued from kennels which she loves and adores.

Katie graduated from the University of Bristol in 2019 where she took an interest in general surgery. As a new graduate she is passionate about each case she takes on and is eager to learn every day.
In her spare time she enjoys walking in the Breacon Beacons National Park and watching Netflix. She also has two dogs named Poppy and Bella.

Laura qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2012 and joined Blake Vets in 2015. Laura gained her Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, awarded by the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, in 2020. She enjoys all aspects of clinical practice but in particular those more complex medical cases. Laura became a Clinical Director in March 2022, and aims to maintain the ethos of her predecessors Richard Bruce, Sue Webster and Jim Hughes, while continuing their hard work in driving the practice forward to maintain the highest clinical standards for our patients.
Outside of work, she loves nothing more than walking her Springador Ember along the beach with her family and exploring all that the West Country has to offer. At home Ana and Trigger the rescue cats are there for lots of cuddles and mischief.

As Practice Director Matt provides leadership, management and support for all our clinical and non-clinical staff here at the Blake Vet Group. Matt joined Blake Vets in October 2020 as a non-clinical member of the team, looking after the business management and personnel aspects of the practice. Matt has two cats at home "Dotti" & "Blu" as well as wife and son.
Matt is also available to speak to if you had any feedback or concerns with any aspects of your visits to Blake Vets, Showground Road, East Quay or Burnham on Sea.

Melissa is part of our reception team and has attained her Level 3 Award in Animal Management.
Outside of work Melissa is a leader and helper at a Guide Group, along with being a member of Polden Hills Young Farmers Club.
Melissa also enjoys taking her family's Spaniel to agility classes.

Olivia first started volunteering with us before becoming qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant, she is now training as a veterinary nurse. Olivia has a variety of pets from dogs and cats to rodents and aquatics. She has three cats, Molly, Bobby and Woody along with her family dog Twiglet and her pet rat Willow that she dearly loves.
Olivia is very passionate about her work and has wanted to be a nurse from a young age, the thing she enjoys most about working in the veterinary industry is how rewarding it is.

Richard qualified in 1988 from Glasgow Vet School. He joined the practice in 1990, becoming a partner in 1994. Richard "handed the reins over" in 2022 so he could spend more time with his clients as he started working part-time. Richard considers himself to be "GP vet" with over 35 years' experience in general practice. Whilst not specialising in any discipline, he enjoys cardiology and treating some of the more obscure patients!
Outside work he enjoys family life with his two horses, Merlin and Harry, border terrier, Martha, and rescue cat, Nelson.

- Sarah Jones RVN Head Nurse
Sarah has worked as a veterinary nurse for many years and joined Blake Vets as our senior nurse in 2014. Sarah has a particular interest in theatre and surgical nursing and has achieved additional qualifications in wound management. She has always lived on the edge of Exmoor and has 2 dogs, Maude the Patterdale Terrier, Harry the Jack Russell and Arthur-Gerald the cat. In her spare time she is usually to be found with one of her numerous horses or partaking in various countryside pursuits.
Sarah joined Blake Vets in 2014 after graduating in 2013 with an intercalated degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare. Sarah's interest in practice is feline medicine and she gained a PGCert in Feline Practice in 2020. Sarah became joint Clinical Director with Laura in early 2022.
Outside of work Sarah enjoys hiking with her young family, white water kayaking, baking and gardening. Sarah has two rescue moggies, Sammy and Willow.
Sue joined Blake Vets in 1999, becoming a partner in the business in 2004. Sue stepped back from a management role in 2022 and now works in a solely clinical role, part-time.

Zara has been working with us since January 2019, during her time here she has attended various training courses for receptionists in order to keep up to date with all aspects of her role.
Zara has previously worked in animal care and has a Foundation Degree in Animal Management & Behaviour.
Outside of work Zara enjoys horse riding, having previously owned two horses herself. She also enjoys walking her families dog Millie, a fox red Labrador and black Lurcher ‘Isla'.
