EL ACEITE DALLAS
Updated 618 days ago
El Aceite means "The Oil" in Spanish, and the neighborhood took its name from some very large oil tanks along the River where tanker trucks would load up. It has been an industrial area between West Dallas and Oak Cliff, and in the 1950s and 60s, before the building of the Dallas-Fort Worth Turnpike (now I-30), it was the main auto route from Dallas to Fort Worth, with lots of hotels and drive-in restaurants catering to travelers.
