Eaton Rapids, located in the southeast corner of Eaton County, is proud to be "The only Eaton Rapids on Earth." The city's main business district is located on an island in the middle of the Grand River, hence its nickname as the "Island City." Given its location, there are numerous bridges in town, including six drivable bridges and three foot bridges...
Founded in 1837 and officially becoming a city in 1881, Eaton Rapids has a rich history shaped by the Grand River's power and the renowned "artesian" wells that once made it the "Saratoga of the West." Visitors once flocked here by train for the mineral-rich waters and bathhouses, and while the past has shaped us, our small-town charm continues to thrive today...
Our community takes immense pride in its unique character, and hometown spirit is at the heart of everything we do.
