Again graduating magna cum laude, she won two first place awards for her research publications in the Anhui province within the first year of her graduation, and began working in Anhui Medical University's main teaching hospital, where she would work for the next decade before moving abroad. After traveling to the United States, Wei was soon hired by the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM) in Portland, OR, where she taught Chinese herbology for over 12 years. In 2003, she also released the first complete textbook and clinical reference published in the English language on the diagnosis and treatment of kidney and bladder diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. Shortly afterwards, she decided to focus all of her time on patient care in her clinical practice across three cities in northwest Oregon.
