ARTDOSIS - Key Persons

ANGI DLAPIU

Job Titles:
  • Multimedia Art Director from Venezuela
Angi Dlapiu is a Venezuelan-born visual artist and designer who approaches art like she approaches life: with endless passion, deep curiosity and exquisite attention to detail. She sees life as a canvas and works tirelessly to transform any wall into art wherever she goes. Her art style melds social statements, storytelling, and pop art to evoke powerful emotion and explore the question: what makes us human? She is passionate about creating large-scale artworks for the mind, using ambiguity as a tool to explore psyches and provoke self-awareness. Born with a paintbrush in her hand, Angi grew up designing ‘art' on any surface she could find - much to the dismay of her parents! Her passion for creating art has never left her, despite a tumultuous journey which saw her flee her home country at a very young age and seek asylum in Australia following social, political, and civil war in Venezuela. Angi has achieved national recognition from the Venezuelan Association of Plastic Artists and was named painter and designer of the year by FIH (Festival International of Humanism) in Venezuela. She has taken part in nationwide collectives and art auctions for humanitarian fundraisers across Venezuela. Now a mural artist based on the Sunshine Coast, Angi is taking Australia by storm, with private collections featured across Brisbane, Melbourne and Canberra. On the international stage, her artworks currently feature in several countries across Europe such as Slovenia, Spain, in America: New York and Miami. "We're all on a journey of unlearning old patterns so that we can see clearly. Everything is connected," she says. "Painting is something I can't live without. I believe each of us has a story worth telling, and I am passionate about capturing and conveying those messages through my art."
