CARE-T1D

The long-term goal of Cardiovascular Repository-Type 1 Diabetes (CaRe-T1D) is to collect, bank, and distribute cardiovascular tissues to approved investigators who seek to determine the mechanisms by which type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes, respectively, promote cardiovascular disease development. This project aligns with the mission outlined in the NIH NIDDK Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) number RFADK-21-010. If awarded, CaRe-T1D will collect a complete tissue panel comprised of heart, kidney peripheral vasculature, and blood from organ donors with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, and without diabetes through our established nation-wide organ donor network.
