Bill Piercey

Bill was born in Halifax and received his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees from Dalhousie University in 1969 and 1971 respectively. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society in 1972 and was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1988. He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Atlantic Trial Lawyers Association. Bill's preferred areas of practice are civil litigation, including commercial, employment, real estate and estate litigation, personal injury , and wills and estate administration. He has appeared in all levels of Courts in Nova Scotia. Outside of his legal practice, Bill is President and Chief Executive Officer of Piercey Investors Limited, a local real estate development company. Bill has served as former Chair of the 3rd Armdale Group Committee of the Boy Scouts Association, and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Rotary Club of Halifax. He is currently a member of the Royal United Services Institute of Nova Scotia ("RUSI") supporting Canada's defence and security, and is an honorary member of the Board of Governors of the Army Museum, Halifax. Bill also serves as the Chair of the Executive Board of Bethany United Church, Halifax. In his leisure time, Bill likes to canoe and kayak Nova Scotia's waterways and bike along the Province's trails and back roads.

Douglas Stevenson

Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Doug attended UPEI where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration before moving to Calgary where he was employed with Shell Canada and Fluor Canada Resources Limited.

Eric Thomson

Eric is the Partner and founding member of Quackenbush, Thomson & Robbins. Practicing for nearly 40 years, Eric's main areas of focus are Commercial and Residential Real Estate and Wills & Estates. Born in Halifax, Eric received his Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University in 1969 and his Law Degree from Dalhousie in 1972. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia bar in 1973. Eric has been involved in a number of Provincial Boards and Commissions, including the Waterfront Development Corporation and the Nova Scotia Boxing Authority. He has served on the Canadian Boxing Federation and has been engaged as a board member or director of a number of local charities and events including Chebucto Links and The Tall Ships. In his spare time, Eric is an active fisherman and can be found chasing salmon in rivers throughout North America. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Salmon Association and the Atlantic Salmon Federation.

Peter puts client focus at the forefront of his agenda and believes that a modern law practice includes a strong communication channel with his clients to keep them well-informed on their matter. A Halifax native, Peter is a proud Haligonian who is deeply vested within the Halifax community. Peter completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary's University before pursuing an M.B.A. and law degree at Dalhousie University. He was admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society in 2010 and has been embracing a small firm environment ever since, where he continues to build a successful practice. Peter specializes in transactional law, with primary areas of focus in property and corporate work, where he represents various individuals, businesses and institutions throughout the Province ranging from first time buyers to larger lending institutions on both residential and commercial transactions as well as general counsel for ongoing operations. Peter is a board member of the Real Estate Lawyer Association of Nova Scotia (RELANS) and volunteers his legal services for the Reachability program of Nova Scotia. When he's not in the office, Peter can be found chasing after his two young children and enjoying as much family time as possible.

Martin House

Martin House was the office of Peter Francis Martin (January 13, 1856 - May 2, 1935). Martin was a contractor and political figure in Nova Scotia, representing Halifax in the Canadian House of Commons from 1917 to 1921 as a Unionist Party member. Martin sat for Halifax division in the Senate of Canada from 1921 to 1935 as a Conservative. He served 18 years on Halifax city council and was mayor from 1915 to 1918. The Halifax Explosion occurred during this term as mayor. Martin died in office in Halifax at the age of 79.

Walter Thompson

Walter is pleased to have now associated himself with Quackenbush Thomson after having practised in other small firms for over forty years. He is a Queen's Counsel. In addition to carrying on the general practise of law, he serves as a Small Claims Court Adjudicator and as a member of the Nova Scotia Securities Commission. He is often appointed to adjudicate complaints under the Human Rights Act and chairs private arbitrations. He has served Cystic Fibrosis Canada, the Nova Scotia Safety Council, the Metropolitan Dispensary, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and the board of CUA (formerly Credit Union Atlantic).
