Jacob serves on the Rensselaer Central School Board, is involved in the Knights of Columbus, Rensselaer Rotary Club, and volunteers his time with the Boy Scout Troop 152 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Michael Riley was engaged in the practice of law for over fifty years. Mr. Riley opened his law office in Rensselaer in 1980 and provided expert legal advice to residents in Jasper and surrounding counties. Before practicing law in Rensselaer, Mr. Riley practiced law in Indianapolis, Indiana for fifteen years. While in Indianapolis, Mr. Riley tried numerous criminal cases, including multiple death penalty cases. He had been lead counsel in over two hundred jury trials, both criminally and civilly. Mr. Riley served as the Chief Public Defender in Jasper County Indiana.
Mr. Riley served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Trial Lawyers and for eight years was Chairman of the Indiana Law-Pac. In 2002 he was honored by receiving the Consumer Advocate of the Year. Additionally, Mr. Riley received the Sagamore of the Wabash in 1996, Indiana's highest award given to a citizen.

Our firm was founded in Rensselaer in 1980 by the late Michael "Mike" Riley. One of the most accomplished trial lawyers in Indiana, Mr. Riley took Jacob Ahler under his wing and taught him the ropes of the legal business before retiring from practice in 2019.
Mike Riley also passed on his values of service to the community and genuinely caring for people. Those traditions are carried on today by his successors. Jacob Ahler is Rensselaer natives who returned to their roots to practice law. They are fully committed to providing quality legal representation and deeply invested in the local communities of Jasper County and surrounding counties. Jacob has represented clients in courts throughout Indiana, including federal courts of the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
