Ashley is one of Monserrat's assistants. She discovered a passion for law and public policy during her time in college and she started working at A Better Future Legal Services soon after graduating. She enjoys working at this firm because she has the opportunity to meet new people, learn about different legal processes, and provide support to people in need. Her goal is to attend law school in the near future to become an attorney, allowing her to assist those in need of legal representation. Outside of work, Ashley enjoys dancing, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Melissa Medina

My name is Melissa Medina and I am Monserrat Garcia's paralegal/ legal assistant. I am a young hardworking and proud Mexican-American whose passion is to help and advocate for others' rights. Throughout the years of my legal career path, empathizing with my clients and seeing the joy on their faces after a successful case has been the best self-rewarding gift. Unfairness is one thing I cannot stand therefore my knowledge and interest in the law field increase daily. I am always grateful to be where I am now and the opportunity that has been given to me to genuinely help with family law. Fun facts about me are that coffee and the gym are my best friends. I also love to travel and explore new places. Tijuana, Mexico is my second home and family has always been the most important thing for me.

Monserrat Garcia

Monserrat is a Sacramento, California native. However, her parents immigrated from Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico in the 1980's in search of a better future. Through their perseverance, hard work, sacrifices, and guidance, Monserrat became inspired to continue their legacy-through law. Today, Monserrat has continued this legacy through offering legal services to those in need. Monserrat aspired to become an attorney after she discovered her passion for reading, writing, helping others, and oral advocacy. As a person with a humble beginning, she understands the need for bilingual legal services from reliable people.

Valentina Martinez-Rodriguez

Valentina is a second-year law student at McGeorge School of Law with interests in family, immigration, and employment law. She completed her undergraduate education at San Diego State University in 2020, majoring in International Security and Conflict Resolution. She hopes to serve her community through the legal profession by ensuring accessibility to quality legal services. During her free time, she enjoys dancing, picnics, traveling and a good book.
