After serving in the United States Air Force, Earl Copeland opened his own service station in Lake Park, located off interstate 75. Due to its location, business was slow, but still, Copeland persisted. In 1967, Copeland joined Horace Barker in operating a brake and front-end service garage. Later, the business grew into a full-service garage. In 1983 Copeland moved the business to a new facility on Williams Street and renamed it Earl Copeland Garage Inc., located on North Ashley Street. Today, the original Earl Copeland Garage Inc. is now Earl Copeland Auto Services, located on Williams Street. Through his determination and persistence, Earl Copeland's history in resilience still stands today.
